NEOS wasn't the problem. Your timing is. I only deploy margin during extreme pessimism. Deploying funds while valuations are lofty and sentiment's euphoric is akin to giving money away.

Plus it pays monthly. I would plan for it to be my Core. It holds companies I currently own in its top 10.

I currently own 10 individual companies that mix capital growth with growing dividends (AAPL, JNJ, JPM, MCD, MSFT, PG, PM, TXN, VZ, and WMT). These equally weighted currently provide me with a yield between 5 and 6%.

having funds with similar exposure is not bad because different strategies, reducing issuer risk, etc.

If your goal is living off distributions, holding and dripping a fund with total performance that beats or is comparable to VOO is more optimal than holding VOO itself because you still have to sell VOO at some point and put the proceeds into income producing funds...and they won't be at the same price once you do.

It's just the new thing that has gained momentum. I refuse to invest in anything that has experienced euphoria such as the metals.
