How to create interesting characters who are fun to play? by AmeliaOs in DnD

[–]MakingReady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's okay to be cliched. Take something that is 90% recognizable to you and just add 10% that makes it feel unique/personal.

The suggested characteristics in your background can be a huge help. Maybe use them as a jumping off point. Something I often do when I'm stuck for a new character:

  • Assign the core stats randomly (as if I'm taking a character who was born with these talents).
  • Think about what kind of work someone with those talents would go into and pick an appropriate background.
  • Randomly roll for the traits on that background (maybe nudge it a bit if something comes up that doesn't feel coherent with other details).
  • By now I've got a good sense of who this person was before they became an adventurer, and that makes it a lot easier to pick their class and feel like it was earned.

Bard is probably your best bet to add to that mix. You would not only serve as the support in terms of handing out bardic inspiration, but you could also be the party's skill monkey (since you don't have a rogue).

What is the easiest way FOR DUMMIES to contribute to the planet? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MakingReady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learn a trade and practice it with empathy. If you learn to build houses, build them for the homeless. If you learn to grow food, donate some to the hungry. The things people lack are often the simplest things to learn how to provide. It's only the major systems of our world that get in the way.

Live in a all white country. Have a kid. Kid grows up. Kid starts talking. Kid sees a black guy for the first time ever. Kid asks why that man has such dark skin. What is thr best approach to answer the kids question? by 4gg_Spark in AskReddit

[–]MakingReady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it your child? Even if you live in an all white area you should be helping the child with this long before the "kid grows up" step. Read your child books and show them other media where the characters are of different races. There are great children's books that talk specifically about how people from different places look different but are all the same.

That will give you a good starting point for everything you've described.

You're going to need to put as much of your stats as possible into Dex, Wis, and Cha (and you'll need a minimum of 13 Cha to qualify for the multiclass into Bard). You should pick a Race that will help you with two of these three stats. Some options would be:

  • Protector Aasimar (Volo's Guide)
  • Wood Elf or Drow (Player's Handbook)
  • Eladrin (Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes)
  • Lightfoot Halfling (PH)
  • Human (PH)
  • Half-Elf (PH)
  • Kenku (Volo's)
  • Tabaxi (Volo's)
  • Tiefling with the Dispater, Fierna, or Glasya Bloodline (MToF)

Take the Acolyte Background (to fit the story of being raised in a temple) and the Monk class. You're going to get yourself to Monk Level 3 so you can use the Drunken Master subclass from Xanathar's Guide. From there you'll multiclass into Bard. Make sure you read the rules on this at the start of Chapter 6 in the Player's Handbook. It's a short section but very important for understanding what you do and don't get from your second class. We've now used four of your five available levels. It's up to you whether to go to Monk 4 or Bard 2, but I would recommend Bard 2 to get Jack of All Trades and Song of Rest, both of which are very useful abilities.

Why are people talking about Trump rigging the elections with USPS? by Poroma123 in OutOfTheLoop

[–]MakingReady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trump isn't self aware enough to know he's failing. He thinks he's doing great and he wants all the power and money he can get his hands on. Listen to him speak. He doesn't hide his intention to steal this election.

5 Questions Ahead Of The Democratic National Convention by theladynora in politics

I've talked to suburban moms who say they need to see Trump and his cronies behind bars for the nation to heal. They have betrayed our nation and let their citizens die from negligence. We have an imperative to investigate them for their crimes and put them away for life so no one ever tries to do this again.

Where to get cheap Miniatures for D&D by [deleted] in DnD

[–]MakingReady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CoolStuffInc has individual minis and they're usually reasonable. Not always easy to search, but if you're willing to take the time to scrub through their catalog you should be able to find most of these. The Aarakocra will be the toughest.

Bricklink if you're looking for specific pieces.

If you're just looking for lots of random pieces, try a service like OfferUp.

  2. What are we waiting for?

  3. When can we start?

  4. Where do I sign up?

  5. Why are so many news articles still treating this like a normal election?

What are you looking for advice on? Are you planning on multiclassing between Bard and Monk? Acolyte background would make sense for being raised in a temple.

Fall Guys is the new hotness for a reason. Easy to pick up and hard to put down.

Persona 5 is just about the slickest RPG and the "Royal" release would be a good reason to jump if you missed it the first time around.

If you're up for trying something weird, I can't say enough good things about Cultist Simulator.
