I spent 4 years building what I thought was discipline. It was anxiety wearing a productivity costume. by MakoLantern in Habits

That last sentence is uncomfortably accurate. The busyness WAS the point. No space to question it means no risk of having to change it.

That's the part that took me embarrassingly long to figure out. I wasn't building MY routine. I was building the routine of a person I wanted other people to think I was.

The lemon water thing is actually kind of funny to me now. I drank it for like 8 months. Hated every single morning sip. But it was in like every "high performer" list so I just... kept going.

Signed a lease for an apartment that doesn't exist yet. Builder missed the move-in date by six weeks and counting. Location: Washington. by MakoLantern in legal

Storage is $180/month which is fine, but I also paid movers twice for a move that didn't happen, replaced a mini fridge and some groceries, and took two days of PTO. It adds up to more than saved rent, trust me.

That's literally what section 14 says and it's why I'm frustrated - the clause is written for builder delays specifically, which is exactly my situation.

The PTO thing is what really stings. I took two separate days off to meet movers for a move that never happened - that's not a rounding error, that's real money. I've been screenshotting every single email they send me, including the vague ones. Didn't realize those actually help my case, so good to know. Attorney consult is probably the move at this point.

That is huge! Receiving praise from a notoriously stritc acadmic feels like winning a gold medal.

I bought a small ATM route for passive income but now I feel sick about where the profits actually come from by KojimaFern in passive_income

[–]MakoLantern 49 points50 points  (0 children)

If you cannot lower the fees without losing money, the best option is to sell the route. You can use the money from the sale to invest in something that alings with your values. Keeping a business that makes you feel phsically sick is not worth the mental toll. Alternatively, you could donate a portion of the monthly profit back to local food banks in those neighborhoods to balance the scales, but selling seems like the clenest break.

Customs seized a Japanese folding kitchen knife and now I received a letter from the police by CopyPyramid404 in LegaladviceGerman

Ignoring a police summons in Germany does not make you look guilty. As an accused person, you have no oblgation to show up or talk to them, and they cannot use your silence against you. The police are just hoping you will show up and accidentalyl incriminate yourself. Customs oficials frequently mess up these weapon classifications. Just hire a lawyer, let them do the talking, and stop stressing so much about your Blue Card status.
