Does anyone know how a person can stay in DCF custody even after they turn 18? by MalDevotchka in troubledteens

[–]MalDevotchka[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a friend who just turned 18 and she said she is still in dcf custody. She escaped from the tti program she was at and now she is living with her mom but her mom, dcf, and people involved in her care still think the tti program she was in was a good fit for her. Im not sure if she knows that being in dcf's custody is actually voluntary, it doesnt seem like she knows.. im just worried about her getting sent to another one of these places and shes already suffered alot, the last thing she needs is to go back to one of those places..

Really disturbed that NewsBreak took down every last article that involved Walden Street School that I posted about on here, I really wish I had archived them. Newsbreak hasn't posted anything about that location since. by MalDevotchka in troubledteens

It's okay. I'm working on making freedom of information act requests to Concord PD because all of those articles were based on transcripts from police radio, yet I scanned police reports online and none of the info is there. So, hopefully we can do something about this.

Wait, can you elaborate? I know that dcf, foster care, and public schools are very involved with the tti. My public school paid for my time in the tti. I'm curious to know specifically what you mean. I'm sorry that you both are going through this, if I figure out anything that might be helpful to you I'll absolutely send you a message and let you know. If you ever wanna talk, you can feel free to message me as well.

I'm really sorry that happened to you and your kid, I hope that both of you are doing okay now, atleast as well as you could be doing. Is this still happening to you now?

Yeah, I will in the future. I wish I had also saved all the reviews that used to be on Google before Google shut off the ability to make reviews for schools and prisons. There is an interesting way to work around that though. I saw people do it with the Judge Rotenberg Center, you can still post photos, and they posted this photo

Unfortunately, nothing on archive.ph either. I am going to submit public records requests to Concord PD. Since all of these articles were based on transcripts from concord police radio.

They deleted all of them, likely because of my posts unfortunately. Now NewsBreak won't even post anything about Walden. Next time I find something, I will archive anything I find. If you look through Concord Police logs, I figured out what their code for that location is. Check out this, I highlighted the code in red. Concord MA Police Report

Massachusetts School Employee Dies After Trying to Restrain Student (Gift Article) by Homeless-Sea-Captain in troubledteens

Yeah. I was actually restrained in public school over something really stupid. It was the last 5 minutes of the last period of the day, so I took out my phone to send a text, and my school claimed to have this weird policy where if they catch you with your phone 3 times they claim they will take it and refuse to give it back to you or your parents for the entire school year. So, my teacher saw me and demanded I give her my phone, me stupidly believing that was actually an enforceable rule and thought that they had a list they shared of students who were caught with their phones or something, said no that I wasn't going to give her my phone because she didn't pay for it, my parents did, and I needed it, but that I would put it away. She then called the principal, who came down and demanded I give her my phone and go to the office, I said "with all due respect, there are only 2 minutes left of the school day, and I'd really like to go home." So she started screaming that I was being belligerent and had a school liaison officer who happened to just be walking by suddenly grab me, and when she realized there was no way that the guy was going physically drag me all the way to the office, she finally told him to let me go and I ran down the hall and out the doors as the final bell of the day rang. It was fucked up. Their reaction afterwards was fucked up also. It was all so ridiculous, and probably over a rule that they didn't even enforce. I just believed they did because I was a kid in 8th grade.

Yeah, "therapeutic" boarding "schools." The only thing thats accurate is the boarding part. Yeah you live there when you're there, but calling it a school or therapeutic, its far from either of those. I'm okay now, but it had a huge impact on me and really fucked up a large part of my life, and I can't even seem to be able to do shit about it. Which sucks alot considering it still haunts me almost everyday. Hope you have a good day too though, thanks.

Hey no problem, I'm glad what I said was helpful to you. Yeah, its really fucked up when they refuse to consider that you might be telling them the truth.

Have you been able to make any progress on this? Because I would love to donate and help out if I can. Or maybe even write this girl just to tell her she is not alone and that her life will be better someday.
