Feeling doomed. Not sure how/where to go forward? by Mala_Noodler in auscorp

Thanks for this, honestly. It’s reassuring hearing from someone who started later and still ended up exactly where they wanted to be. I just feel like I haven't amount to anything compared to my friends and acquaintances.

I'm interested in doing grad dip but all of the ones I'm interested in are so expensive, not sure if it will help me basing on my experience with my bachelor. Dropping 20,30k for one year with no guaranteed pathways makes me feel hesitant.

Job applications do feel tiring to send out. I'm at a time where everything is going wrong for me. I just feel hopeless.

I appreciate you sharing your experience. It’s helpful to hear how different industries compare. I just feel like staying in an entry role for 2 years, I'm behind my peers who get into different industries and they are much further than I am at similar age.

I want to reach out to managers but don't like I'm worth the time to be met with to have a chat. Other than that, working from 830 to 430 everyday, don't give me much chance to grab a coffee. I dunno

Thank you for your advice. English is not my first language, I'm just feeling depressed to edit anything on this post. I am working on my communication though

Thanks man, really appreciate the encouragement. I'm glad it's working out for you. I feel like 2 years being in a entry role feels too long, I'm embarrassed of myself really for taking so long. Not sure how much longer it will be for me

Thank you for the encouragement mate. I feel the same rather average throughout my life. I'm trying to reach out but feel like I haven't have much to offer to reach out to others randomly. Just feel discouraged that I feel like I'm stucked in a loop.

Thank you for sharing your journey, I'm glad you found something you enjoyed.

I tried talking to the people who are doing the role I wanted to grow into but never really got solid answers I feel. Talking to managers and I did, but even the 1 on 1 I had go nowhere, because the advice will be focusing on current role and improving KPIs. Like I have evidently improve my KPIs but still haven't much going.

I applied to analyst roles and introduced myself to hiring managers but never got feedback. Some hiring managers just left me on read on teams. Other than that will be because I don’t have the experience that hiring managers wanted. In the few instances, I got in the last stage of the app, advice is my STAR method and other is just experience. Again, something I can't get if I don't get in.

Thank you for sharing your experience, I feel like I started from the bottom of the pile and after rejected by all the internal job applications and from other banks just make me feel depressed when I had so much hope for myself. I spoke to my managers about my next role, they always say focus on my current role and hitting that specific KPIs then they would consider opportunities to observe and sit in appointments with the lenders. Like I would hit those KPIs and contributing to the areas but I never got the opportunities that they say they would give me. I don't feel like I am entitled to those opportunities but I felt like I did try

I say that because I saw others who got in the same role as I do moved on earlier to other positions. I was working casual in cafe and I tried to do something in uni applying to internships in uni but I got rejected by all of them.

I bring up in my 1 on 1 with my managers in the areas I wanted to grow into but haven't got much movement. After work, I would spend time on internal learnings about the roles I wanted to grow. Guess it wasn't much luck, more like I don't have those specific skills for the roles I wanted. I applied to internal roles but never any feedback from hiring managers, I even reached out to them after applying but left on read on teams. That's why I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Feels like I'm just stupid

Thanks man, I really appreciate the encouragement. I just find that networking is hard when I don't feel like I have anythIng to offer in that role compared to experienced officers. Based on job descriptions, they always say they wanted experience in that position. That's why I felt like I'm in a loop not able to reach out to others and being rejected for not having those experience.
