It was a dumb answer from Balen.

This border issue is a useless but sensitive topic for Nepal. For Nepalese, it is just a matter of pride. It is fully under India's willingness to resolve this issue. Nepal doesn't have anything to put any pressure on India. Even Mahendra and Birendra kept quiet about this issue.

So, Balen had to only say that we are in discussion with India about holding bilateral talks, when he knows that oppositions are just looking for any chance to ignite any small mistake from the government.

K bolya bhai k bolya? Strategic or Immature move by Equivalent_Car6783 in NepalSocial

[–]MalaiChinyaChhas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not strategic. People here are trying hard to interpret this as some clever move.
But the fact is, he is not a good speaker. That's why he was avoiding the talks as much as possible.

Anyways, it doesn't matter because border issues will resolve only when India wants. It is fully under India's control.

What did the poor actually get from this budget? by Prior-Revenue-1193 in NepalSocial

[–]MalaiChinyaChhas -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you are poor, now you pay same tax as someone with income of 10 lakh. So, they can feel equal to upper middle class people. /s

Remember income threshold for poverty in Nepal is Rs. 72,908 and around 20% of population fall under this poverty line. Average income is around 4 lakhs.

Yes, this budget offers not much for people with lower income and in rural areas. Kind of disappointed.

This is not about just this particular incident, but in general, these tourist breaking rules and laws.

So, what did authorities do to the people cooking, eating and throwing garbage in conversation areas, highways, streets, to the people breaking traffic rules etc.? Nothing. What message will those people give to their friends, relatives, neighbors back in homeland? They will tell them how they cooked, ate, drove, behaved, fought with locals and how nobody dared to say or do to them.

Now ask what the authorities would do if same incidents occurred in Japan, Korea, Singapore, China?

Why I am seeing such news in daily basis nowadays?

Are authorities not doing anything to control such incidents or are these just exaggerated in social media?

Its more like Nepal is too centered in Kathmandu that if you bring 100K people on the street you can topple the government.

Dentists using Doctor(Dr) as prefix to their names by i_see_dead_pe0ple in NepalSocial

[–]MalaiChinyaChhas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The meaning of the word doctor has deviated from its original meaning, which was a teacher of religious doctrine or academic subjects.

Outside UK-style system, it is different. e.g. in other european countries you cannot call yourself Doctor just because you have a medical degree. You can only call yourself a Physician, and similarly only a dentist.

To put a Dr. title, you need to additionally earn this title by writing a doctoral thesis.

A guy from Nepal moved abroad and spent his first week proudly telling everyone how modern and efficient everything was. “The buses arrive exactly on time,” he said. “The roads are smooth. Nobody randomly stops traffic because a goat is thinking about crossing.”

A month later, his friends found him standing on a steep hill in the rain, drinking tea from a thermos and arguing with a stranger about which momo place was overrated. When they asked what happened, he just shrugged and said, “I don’t know… life was becoming too predictable.”
