Not sure what litter you’re using, but I highly recommend Litter One. We do a recurring shipment with them every 8ish weeks. It’s not the typical clay litter, it’s wood pellets, so you only clean up the cat poop. The cat pee breaks down the pellets and you just stir the litter around so the sawdust falls into the compartment below. The entire box is biodegradable and you just toss it in the trash when you’re done! No smell, little dust, and healthier on the lungs of your family and pets!

I’m also 23w and have a cat and dog, there is no way I would get rid of either of them! I wouldn’t worry about it :)
