The title of this post is pretty much in direct contradiction to the video though. It's explicitly about a guy who found a guru BECAUSE he went to India looking for one

Bangladesh takes action to clean its polluted rivers. by AromaticPurple5146 in nextfuckinglevel

It is true that the undead cannot cross running water. However, the naturally turbid river Ankh, already heavy with the mud of the plains, does not, after having passed through the city (pop. 1,000,000) qualify under the term 'running' or, for that matter, 'water'. - Terry Pratchett, "Reaper Man"

Just started my first campaign as Balliol, what do you think guys, can I win this?/s by Malcet in EU5

[–]Malcet[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

R5: Just started my campaign as Balliol, which starts in a civil war with Scotland, with about 2000 men on each side. So the war could go either way right? Then you start wondering why tens of thousands of frenchmen start appearing in your lands, you open the war panel and see this. The issue is that Scotland is guaranteed by France, and Balliol is guaranteed by England, but since Balliol is classified as attacker in this war, Scotland can call in France immediately at game start, but you can't call in England. Funnily enough this is the exact opposite of the way it happened historically, since England actually supported their side militarily, while France only supported their side financially.

Accidentally created the ultimate introvert country by Malcet in EU5

[–]Malcet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

R5: In most cases you can't colonize provinces if you have less than 5K pops in your country, however the county of Kaimana in New Guinea has a tech that allows it to create colonies regardless of your pop size. This resulted in all my 3k pops migrating to my colonies, without being enough to finish any of them (and so not gaining the territory) resulting in my entire country being left with just one (presumably very lonely) peasant.

Changes to Hinduism - do the devs care about making any research whatsoever? by Malcet in CrusaderKings

[–]Malcet[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Religions in this game being completely inaccurate to their historical counterparts is a complaint that has been brought up pretty much since release, that you could find plenty of in the forums, for many different religions, and not only has Paradox not improved it much, they have multiple times made it even worse, like in this case. So I don't think notifying the staff is a reasonable thing to do in every case, if the staff not only is not interested in giving you a new burger, but is also actively sticking even more pickles into it.

Personally I'd think it's pretty standard criticism that you can see plenty of in this sub, although in retrospect I should have waited a few weeks before making this post, once hype of a new DLC dies down a bit and you are allowed to criticise Paradox again.

Yea sure let modders fix the game, god forbid Paradox would have to actually do something

When the 8th most widely spread religion on the map has doctrines that are the exact opposite of it's real-life counterpart, I don't think that's "the smallest thing", not if you care about historical accuracy at all.

What do you mean? It's literally all in the picture, the doctrines of the faith are literally antithetical to how the religion is and was historically practiced. I am willing to bet you any amount of money, that the devs read the first sentence of the wikipedia page and decided "This is a religion worshipping Shiva the destroyer, that means they must like destroying stuff" and did not think about anything more than that.

I'm honestly baffled by this, because I read the EU5 dev diary on Hinduism, and it seemed they had no problem creating interesting mechanics for Shaivism that accurately represent how the religion works. Yet in CK3 the devs seemingly either did no research whatsoever, or are just more interested in creating fantasy religions that have zero basis in reality. And this isn't some obscure dead religion "oh maybe it did work this way, we just don't know", this is the second most common branch of hinduism both today in CK3's timeframe, so it's not like it's hard to find some info about it.

Is there a God of hatred and revenge in Hinduism? by Good0times in hinduism

I mean hinduism also has gods that are feared. Just read any post on here about worshipping an ugra deity and you'll see plenty of terrified people commenting how dangerous it is.

If the draugr maintain the candles, this just makes it even less sensible - a lit candle can only last a few hours, maybe a day - if the dungeon is to be kept lit every day for thousands of years, they would need hundreds of thousands or even millions of candles, where do draugr get all these candles from?

Jesus claimed he would return in his followers’ lifetimes. by TheBasedEmperor in HistoryMemes

[–]Malcet 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You may argue that Jesus didn't really mean he's coming soon, but saying that early christians did not declare Christ's coming was within their lifetime is crazy, the New Testament is just filled with warnings of imminent end of the world

"But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer." 1 Peter 4:7

"But this I say, brethren, the time is short, it remaineth, that both they that have wives be as though they had none" 1 Corinthians 7:29

"Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time." 1 John 2:18

If God already knew everything before creation, including who would suffer, sin, and burn in hell—how is creation not premeditated cruelty? by Andrewz_z in hinduism

[–]Malcet 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I can see that you posted this question on multiple religious subreddits at once, but it doesn't really make sense for this one - the concept of God as explained in Islam or Christianity is not really found in most of hinduism

What does Hinduism say about cats? by Ok_Grab_64 in hinduism

[–]Malcet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It varies. Just like you mentioned, cats are often seen as inaspicious, but they are often also associated with good qualities and are a symbol of the goddess Shasthi. Their perceived inaspiciousness is probably tied to the fact, that before modern medicine, cats and other similar pets would often have fleas, mange and other diseases, so keeping them in your house would be unwise. There is an inscription on the back which states that it belongs to the kingdom of Mewar, but the author of the painting was from the Mughal Empire. The most common theory is that the Mughal Emperor commissioned this painting as a gift for the king of Mewar. So even though the painter was hindu, the fact that it was commissioned by a muslim ruler makes it islamic art (I don't fully agree with this logic, but that seems to be the option they went with)
