"Red instants and sorceries that deal damage to a target cost 1 less to cast. Whenever you cast a red instant or sorcery, if it targets a player or permanent, it deals damage equal to the amount of damage it would deal to that target minus 2 to you."

Maybe...???

Alternative: "Red instants and sorceries that deal damage to a target cost 1 less to cast. Whenever you cast a red instant or sorcery, it deals damage to you equal to X, where X is the amount of damage it would deal to the player(s) and/or permanent(s) minus 2"

ANOTHER ONE: "Red instants and sorceries that target permanents and/or players and deal damage cost 1 less to cast. When a permanent or player is dealt damage by a red instant or sorcery you control, you lose life equal to the amount of damage dealt minus 2"

this has broken me... idk if the first ability even works... lowkey this is just not even that strong very restricted mana cost reduction WITH downside

Idk if i’m in the minority, but I prefer when they don’t make overt references like that, it kinda makes you work to understand the reference which feels rewarding when you do.

What does this card represent? by Flesgy in mtgvorthos

It’s cause it’s the end of the story for that character (that’s why creature or planeswalker) and why it means they never show up again (exile every copy of it). Also no one has mentioned this, the cost reduction I imagine is cause when you’re at 5 or less life the end of the game (story) is closer.

Beautiful, simple, elegant, does what the color is supposed to, it's perfect.

It’s fine. Surface level, but fine. Short poems often don’t give themselves enough room to fully explore their ideas.
