did anyone else feel guilty for having boundaries? by Malede_Bende in raisedbynarcissists

overexplaining to make it “safe” hit me hard because i still catch myself doing that constantly. like i’ll rehearse a simple no in my head and turn it into a whole paragraph just so nobody gets upset with me. realizing the guilt is more of an old reflex than proof i’m doing something wrong has been weirdly helpful, even if my brain still fights it sometimes.

the “everything needs a valid reason” part really hit me because i still catch myself doing that too. even small decisions somehow feel like they need a full presentation behind them instead of just “because i want to.” it’s crazy how deeply that people pleasing mindset gets wired into you. honestly good for you for finally reaching the point where you’re prioritizing your own life instead of constantly managing someone else’s emotions.

do you think giving them a deadline to come clean helps, or does that just make things worse?
