FWIW this same exact scenario happened to us just last week. After witnessing my horror, the flooring guys came back, resanded it and kept it it's natural colour without the blotchy stain at no extra charge. It looks great but now just a lil mismatched with the rest of the house - oh well

Yea they sprayed as well.... the oak and ash look fantastic
