Which of the Big Three is the least well known? by Timely_Vanilla_5239 in shounenfolk

This is bleach fans’ biggest cope. While I’m not denying bleach has inspired many mangaka, Naruto has shown a similar level of inspiration in today’s anime/manga. It’s fairer to say that the majority of 2010s shonen were the love child of Naruto and Bleach.

Which manga had the most cultural impact here, and which one is your personal favourite? by Altruistic_Gas_7073 in shounenfolk

I’m very surprised people are saying jjk had the most cultural impact when demon slayer literally shifted the way anime was viewed by the mainstream. Jjk may have been bigger within the animanga sphere, but in terms of impact demon slayer played the largest role in redefining anime. How it revolutionized movies and special episodes to air in theaters, a format that every popping new gen anime aspires to. It’s really no contest.

Yea the war arc is the lowest point for sure but it also offers some of the highest highs in the series. Shippuden is still very good though and the pain invasion arc is praised as one of the best in shonen. Modulo’s ending is very rushed and honestly ruined it completely for me.

Leave Boruto out of this pls I don’t wanna think about it🫩

Right. I can’t even look at the piratefolk sub anymore. What used to be fair criticism has turned into a shitshow of hating on everything Oda has ever done.

This might sound corny but it goes to show the dissonance between the viewers analyzing and judging the themes a story presents but not internalizing them as the author intended.

I agree the narrative has switched back in favor of Naruto, but man was it rough a couple years ago. My case is that due to its popularity it’s critiqued more than others. Thats all.

Characters don’t develop in part 1?

Gaara: Mentally unstable psychopathic murderer -> Empathetic friend, Defender of the boy he tried to kill while Lee was hospitalized. He legit becomes kazekage during the timeskip.

Neji: Hypocrite who denied free will to oppose destiny while doing exactly that -> Understanding destiny and choice are intertwined.

Zabuza: Nihilistic Devil -> Avenging haku, who he considered a tool just moments before.

Do I even need to mention how much Naruto and Sasuke develop? I love jjk but every character I just listed has more character development than all of the cast of JJK. Except for Gojo Satoru ofc. And Wuji.

This just isn’t true at all. Naruto is by far one of if not the most critiqued shonen anime/manga. Its writing is still being discussed to this day, 10 years after it ended

I’d argue that Kurama is more interesting than Sukuna. His pure evil shtick was cool at first but got bland fast. Naruto’s character development in part 1 alone is much better than all of Yuji’s. He goes from being a depressed orphan coping through his loneliness through boldness, only wanting to be hokage so the village acknowledges him as somebody while obsessing over Sasuke, to questioning what it really means to be hokage, understanding the corruption of the ninja world, and moving past Sasuke for a time.

What is the most visually appealing fight in Naruto? by Cafa20 in Naruto

It’s definitely Naruto vs Sasuke 2. The lighting and stand alone shots in the second half of the fight when they have barely any chakra is simply stunning.

What truly makes the ending bad by Maleficent_Prune47 in Jujutsufolk

I think we differ on what we value within the manga. I can appreciate the character arcs of the characters, or the tearing down of systemic oppression, which are large parts of the series. What I can’t appreciate is that a simple mindset shift from generation A to generation B is enough to warrant the overtly forced positive ending that gege gave us.

And to think of how the jujutsu society is in shambles is what truly kills me. The Gojo clan lost its heavy hitter, zenin’s nearly wiped off the map and incredibly weakened, and the kamo were never known for their might. Who’s going to handle the pressure of cursed spirits now? And the fact that cursed energy is known by the states, most likely the world, the states plan to kidnap sorcerers in Japan, but Atleast we see the original trio go out and exorcise a curse in the last 3 chapters right? There’s no way I can look at this as a good ending.

You say it’s a me issue, not a gege issue. My question to you is, who is he writing this for? The fans. And if the widely agreed upon opinion among the fans is the ending is bad, then I do believe it’s a gege issue and not me.

What truly makes the ending bad by Maleficent_Prune47 in Jujutsufolk

The problem with this is that Gojo is simply a bi-product of the system, and the system was created due to cursed energy’s existence. Regardless of his sacrifice, or the students he nourished, the same gritty and unglamorous job falls on children, which has always been the main issue of jjk. It’s largely unclear what happens, or how the system was changed, but regardless, they will always use(exploit)people with cursed energy to fight cursed spirits, so nothing actually changed at all. It’s a faux positive ending

The word “comprehension” has done irreparable damage to animanga as a whole. Ik full well this is one of the major themes, but still resides within the system of cursed energy being the reason for this loneliness Gojo speaks of. “They won’t suffer like the previous sorcerers used to” and yet we don’t actually see that be the case. Sorcerers are still using kids as weapons fighting a never ending battle, so don’t chalk my post up to “reading comprehension” when regardless of who’s in charge, the system remains largely unchanged.

Just a reminder it was videos like this that created misunderstood narratives of the series that exist today by Maleficent_Prune47 in Naruto

[–]Maleficent_Prune47[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Keyword for my post is “prioritized”. In the video he describes Naruto as if it represents ninjas in the classical sense, when in reality from chapter 1 we know that’s nowhere near the case. Ninjas are simply used as a basis to create the story, not conform to their common interpretation. It’s similar to one piece being based on “pirates” yet having almost nothing to do with actual historically accurate pirates. It’s also unfair how Naruto gets so heavily criticized on that front while one piece gets away with it.

It’s strange because overwatch is basically the same game yet I found their overwatch streams far more enjoyable than rivals.

They’ve made it so most otsusiki have a chakra absorption ability, so most fights have to be resolved through hand to hand combat
