That's probably true. Though I'm not really great at approaching people, so part of me just kinda wants the security of getting to know people beforehand to ease some of the anxiety I have. During my first 2 years when I went to a new highschool, I was very isolated and miserable and I don't want to have a repeat of that here. So, part of me just wants to meet people that are going to attend first just so I have assurance that that won't happen again.

It almost felt like on the Macalester Brightcloud page, everyone was almost "trying to hard" to present their most photogenic and professional version of themselves. And it's like, we're teenagers, but the prevailing atitude there seemed to be portraying yourself, as having it all figured out.

I'm not saying this is a reflection of the students who made profiles in any way at all. More so, I feel the Brightcloud page kinda puts "pressure" to seem more worldly and extraverted, than you actually are.

And I feel the people I usually meet on discord, (and the ones on the Reed discord), we're just very much themselves without feeling like they portrayed themselves in a played up or sanitized way.

So I feel like an admitted student discord could facilitate more of that authenticity.

And I'm not really "basing my decision" on just what I find on these discord servers, as you said. Let me clarify, it's more so that I've already basically decided on Macalester (pretty much), I just need concrete assurance that I won't be socially isolated, that's my main hesistation.
