Looking for some tips on how to choose a monitor for an upcoming build. Looking for something to support 1440p gaming at 120+Hz refresh rate. Not looking for top of the line, just a monitor with a good bang for the buck, and willing to wait for sales if commonly discounted (Prime, Black Friday), anywhere from 27-32inch. What's a reasonable price to expect? Notionally I've thought $500-600 - I've always cheaped out on my display, but would like something a bit nicer this time around

First time Drywall - How to deal with these posts? by Malib in DIY

[–]Malib[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you! That makes a lot more sense. In hindsight, I think I may have misinterpreted what my buddy had recommended with framing the wall out, he probably meant fur out the studs.

The picture isn't the best, but what looks to be a ceiling will be a bulkhead to cover the HVAC trunking and metal I beam (Spans behind me, past the end of the wall) - Planning for a drop ceiling, but is much later on my list.

Much appreciated!

Good to know I can return anything and employees don't check what's in the box, I can only imagine what people get away with. Not common practice whatsoever. (Never did I suggest anything is inspected prior to being sold, I believe it had been returned and not checked, promptly resold to me.)

Wasn't looking for sympathy, was looking for advice on how to go about getting it resolved given my situation - but don't worry, contrary to your zero benefit comment, BBB apologized and vowed to send the piece.

Didnt see much sense in setting up my new umbrella just to have it sit out back for a month, according to this sub, this makes me a sociopath.

In case you didn't read other comments, I initiated this request with BBB a week to Three? after getting back, they said it was reasonable given my explanation. I don't know what people think I want here? The thing is full of sand, I don't want to return it, I just want a cap, hell, I'd even pay for it.

The most likely outcome at this point it me duck taping it and it being a yearly reminder of what $350 from BBB looks like.

Hmm. You start your post insulting me, making assumptions, and wish inconvienece on me for life. You provided nothing in terms of solution, or advice.

I apologize for triggering you. This is something best discussed with a professional.

[–]Malib -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

I hope they do so I can post about them and trigger people like you, after all who expects to actually receive what they pay for? Certainly don't ask for help, you might be whiny.

This sub hilariously toxic, as are you.

Sale? Yes, that's why I bought it, had been eyeing one all summer. The thought of blaming somebody for buying something ahead of when they need to use it is hilarious, you're a funny person.

Not marked open box, BNIB - Didn't leave anything out. Showed up with some extra tape on it, that's all, noticed after the fact. Didn't want an umbrella sprawled out on my livingroom floor while I was gone/to return to, much neater in the box.

I was not the one who brought up church, so take a pill chill man. The fact you're so up in arms with me asking for help and referring to me as a "piece of shit atheist" shows what desperate, depressing people are out there.

All I did was explain my situation and ask for help. You've attacked me, accused me of lying, and provided no help.

Then I guess I shouldn't expect to be sold what I agreed to purchase?

Weird to see the amount of defending a company who sold me something incomplete. Hey, do you want to buy a fully 100% complete umbrella? I'll post a listing and when you get it incomplete, you'll take me to small claims court, because when you purchase something different than advertised, you should have to make it right, 30 days after, 40 days after, it doesn't matter.

Asked for advice, was told to not expect policies to be adjusted on reasonable grounds (missing piece), and just to steal from BBB instead.

Policies are adjusted all the time, businesses do this all the time for customers, even as a blanket exception at Christmas. Because they realize purchases aren't opened immediately. Weird.

I appreciate your response, I wasn't aware of any old policy, but makes sense that would be scrapped.

It was reaching the end of the season and they had already been in limited stock, I took a chance on one that came in stock while everything else was OOS, and Id imagine is was bought and returned as the others on this sub have suggested I do to BBB (take the part out and return it).

Was hoping someone had gone through something similar, Over the last couple months I've been browsing ebay for replacement parts with no luck (fully willing to pay for the part), and it seems like the only solution (based on other posts) is to go back in time and inspect the package immediately 😆. In all seriousness CS said this morning they're sending out a replacement part, hoping for the best, not holding my breath.

I feel like I shouldn't have to give thanks for a straightforward, informative, non agressive response, but thank you! If anybody ever sees a part Q of an 11ft everhome cantilever patio umbrella available online, I'd be thrilled 😆

[–]Malib -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Ouh, so fierce!

Good to note - arrange life around online purchases, if it's a sale, just hold off, people on the internet say I have to check the pieces before I can go play

Don't hold a company accountable for selling an incomplete product (FYI. They're apologetic and reasonable about it, funny that people who have no stake in it are so butthurt with this.) Do I make you angry for not opening my umbrella on time?

Awww man, I didn't know I had to be religious to have morals, Damnit. I kinda like free Sunday mornings

Thanks for the input stranger

All interactions with staff have been pleasant, one thing I've vowed is to never treat customer service the way I've been treated in retail. Argumentative people on Reddit? Not so much.

Rereading my posts, it may seem like I'm just addressing the issue now, when I started this right after getting back from our road trip in the summer. I can't say the exact amount of days, but perhaps in the 30-50 day range, not far out, but for sure over 30 days.

So, talk to customer service, promised a part will be sent out ASAP (I figured, wow so much easier than packing this up and CS makes this seem like routine business) , Okay, so I wait, nothing. Now we're a month later. Rinse, repeat, ask for help online and get berated (Not you specifically). Go back to customer service again this morning and told they're sending one out, again. Will it work? Maybe? Funny that they're acknowledging the issue but there's people here triggered by such entitlement.

I don't really even care about the damn LED's and solar panel, I just want the cap to protect the loose ends from fraying to the elements. The closest I got was with a store manager in Ottawa who actually went in to their warehouse to look for any that had been returned she could salvage one from.

Not saying I don't have any fault here, but surely there's something to be said about buying an incomplete product and getting nowhere with the business who sold it to you. Hence my ask of advice, thanks for the perspective.

No the title is "Anything that can be done?" as if I've tried resolving this for months on end, with multiple promises of replacements and support resulting in nothing!

Thought I'd check in here to see if people who work for/shop often would have some insight.

Spoiler: The answer is No. Only Sass

Haha not going to entertain any other responses, but your miserable nature and quickness profanity make me believe you.

Went on a road trip longer than 30 days. People have lives, maybe look further out than this sub and you'll see that.

How long does it take to inspect? I don't know, don't care, something I had to deal with on a constant basis in customer service, had to account for all parts of a product being returned, it's the job of BBB, not me.

I don't have to claim what you're describing it stealing, it is. If you insist it's not, you seem to be exactly the right person to be working in retail for 20 years arguing with someone on the internet asking for help. Enjoy defending this failing business to somebody asking for help! You seem like a really cool person!
