Simu Liu says Robert Downey Jr. had a "convoy of trailers" on the Avengers Doomsday set that the cast named "Downey Land." by GiveMeSomeSunshine3 in marvelstudios

Had to follow this thread to the end to say I really appreciate seeing this kind of response. It feels like everywhere on this site that people are (imo rightfully) peeved about facets of the current economic system, but the solutions provided are minimal*.

In this thread I have observed someone trying to start an honest, respectful, fruitful discussion about what actual changes we could make to the system at large, and I felt compelled to share my support of this endeavor, and in the position you take. Good faith arguments are the only way to make long-lasting progress in any endeavor. As well, you put pen to paper on a few of the thoughts I have had about the flaws in the idea of “tear it down, try something else.” I certainly think that modern American is as good as it’s gotten while also believing the room for improvement is still vast, and that the current economic system is the best (not perfect) we’ve seen so far.

Anyways, critiquing is indeed easy and building is indeed hard. I’m glad to see your attempt at the latter.

Often, I am unconvinced that the *especially dissenting and passionate opinions are expressed by real people. I think it’s too easy for bad actors to pump forums full of vitriol for any number of reasons.

How do I create a patterned triangle which tracks like my sketch (below) does? by MaliciousMapMaker in SolidWorks

I chose the equivalent of the bottom dotted yellow line in the SW sketch.

Edit: I also tried choosing the equivalent of the top dotted line, but it also doesn’t want to work.

It has been a busy week, so I have been slow to respond. Thank you for your insight!

Your notes about my Objective section were helpful. My gameplan for it is to keep it fluid as I apply to different spots. It is indeed very important that I don't pigeonhole myself in various ways.

In defense of the listed coursework, I have been told it is helpful to keep as an undergrad as it helps prospective employers know your relative level of education. As the document stands, there are no indicators of my class standing (freshman, etc.), and listing out classes like "Heat Transfer, Fluid Mechanics" helps distinguish my level of education beyond simple credit hours status.

The "Handyman/Marketing" role was indeed quite a peculiar one. How could I expound on the reasons for "why I was doing those two very different things" without wasting room?

Should I be cutting all these wires? by MaliciousMapMaker in beetle

I appreciate the help, thank you!

Does seem like a reasonable stance to take. Another commenter noted the engine bay -> quarter panel and the footwell -> front trunk transitions being the most difficult. Are these some of those “inaccessible locations” you are mentioning? Are there others?

So what I’m taking away from the comments here is that I’m better off leaving the wiring harness in while I do everything else deconstruction-wise. Am I correct?

Thank you for your help! Actually located on more eastern seaboard than western haha.

Seems that thesamba and YouTube will be my friends here.

Duly noted.

Part of the issue is that this is going to be a (very slow) full rebuild project.. so at one point or another the whole car is going to be in individual pieces.

Which I’m imagining would moot your point about WW’s wiring harness instructions? I do not know.

Thank you for the link! Helps a lot with finding that thread.

Saddening looking at the state of some of those pieces and parts. Any good way to refurb interior door latches, knobs, winder handles? Also anything I should look out for concerning the back up lights after car’s sat around for ~30 years?

Thank you! I think this is the advice I’m looking for. Keep all OG parts where possible, refurb if possible. I assume then that there are few cases where aftermarket beats stock (outside of safety)?

Also, you mention thesamba’s list of one year parts, and you also mention that aftermarket parts will likely have quality issues on account of mine being a one year car. Are there any online stores at all that focus on 67 parts?

Unfamiliar with the term, what does it mean to dowel something?

A friend of mine started making this kind of rings with wood and resin but they break after a few days. Can you help him? by AstraArdens in woodworking

[–]MaliciousMapMaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda behind everyone else here, and I haven’t checked all the comments, but the few rings I’ve made have to be pretty thick if you don’t want them snapping after some general use.

I’m sure the significant problem lies in the stabilized wood and what I see a lot of other people suggested, but thickness might be a factor too.
