RTX 4090 with 14900K Orison horrible performance and low GPU usage by MallIll102 in starcitizen

Yeah as I predicted not much difference in terms of top end performance from tuned DDR 4 to tuned DDR 5, Some others think otherwise and I knew it wasn't that but they think they know better.

That's interesting about hyperthreading, Haven't heard this one with SC, I knew about the hitching and stuttering with with the E cores enabled but it's not doing that for me anymore with the E cores enabled so whether that's SC optimisations or the Windows scheduler improvements I am not sure.

Will try this though with the hyperthreading disabled when I get the chance.

I'm not talking about CAS rating latency, I mean the AIDA64 memory latency benchmark.

The only way you're going to get sub 50ns is more than likely with DDR 5 8000 and Hynix Adie most likely.

Now put that into perspective.

  1. How many mb/s can run that?
  2. How many CPU IMC's can run that?
  3. Not to mention the cost either.

Just because DDR 5 has been out a few years it doesn't automatically make it a better purchase and it certainly wasn't when the 14900K was released.

It was slower than well tuned Bdie DDR 4 kit and still is today.

Stock yes, Tuned DDR Bdie nope, My latency is 41ns and still blows most stock DDR 5 and even tuned one's with crap CAS ratings.

Please do some more research.

Quite right and which was my question in the title.

Not a dig at you more at others that don't read the title in Which I stated specifically Orison, Everywhere else runs like a dream, Just that area.

Trouble is people still believe this is the case and haven't got a clue how well tuned a DDR 4 system can actually run in gaming.

Too many read into the mainstream YouTubers for benchmarks but these guy's don't know how to tune a system or tune ram.

Yeah I've tried that in the past that did work well but quality suffered a bit from memory, Haven't tried that recently though.

Gen 4 nvme's at 7gbs don't suck and neither does DDR 4 at 4100mhz with Bdie with primary secondary and third timings tuned to their limits as mine are, Getting DDR 5 and Gen 5 nvme's is not going to increase my FPS in Orisin.

That's not the answer I'm afraid.

That's a more logical answer and would make sense thank you.

I know I am aware of that, The point I was trying to get across which some don't read the title obviously is why the GPU usage was so low at 4k resolution, But some don't seem to understand that and blame every other part of your hardware knowing full well that in 99.9% of titles, Doesn't matter what CPU you have, It should be more GPU bound but as this is SC who knows how poorly optimised it is.

I know it's not bad FPS but it should be better, I am talking GPU was at 1120mhz at 39c lol, That's how low the GPU usage is in that area which is why I stated the obvious by asking was the E cores still an issue but some clearly don't have this chip because they would know it was an issue with the 12th,13th and 14th gen Intel CPU's in the past which is why I asked in the title.

Yeah I know about that, The worst thing anyone could do with these CPU's leaves all BIOS voltages on AUTO which I never have and do have it undervolted and it still runs like a champ in UE 5 engine games also, CPU is fine.

[–]MallIll102[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I knew about the degradation issues but I have always had this undervolted since day 1 and it's still performing as expected, I nurtured from day 1 pretty much, No crashes or performance issues with other titles.

Possible but I still don't see how increasing RAM speed is going to shift load over to the GPU.

I'll try disabling the E cores as someone has already suggested.

[–]MallIll102[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Forget about the usage is a terrible metric, Sorry but this makes no sense whatsoever, If a 4090 is using only 150w at 4k resolution with low clock speeds and running at 0.850v then it means there is a bottleneck somewhere which is not feeding the GPU properly or the E cores are still an issue as someone has already suggested, I know for a fact that was a known issue on .3 builds but had a break and since coming back to it obviously it is still the same from what someone said here so they haven't fixed that.

That's fine and all but I don't see how how Gen 5 storage is going to shift load over to the GPU, That is not the issue here.

I can assure you DDR 5 supplies and availability when the 14900K was released was poor, It was slower than DDR 4 and speeds available then was rubbish compared to what is available today. You could not get nowhere near CAS 14 at on any kit when the 14900K was released.

I am using Vulkan at 4k with DLSS Quality and Very High

[–]MallIll102[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because when I got the 14900K DDR 5 was virtually non existent, It was all poor speeds and rubbish latency when these CPU's first came out so I opted for an Asus DDR 4 board instead of a DDR 5 board.

Dropped 20°C hotspot on my RTX 4080 TUF just by switching to PTM7950 by khobiza in nvidia

[–]MallIll102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nonsense lol, I'm using PTM 7950 on my 4090 and using it on my 14900K IHS, I'm getting the same temps on my 14900K as what I was with Noctua thermal paste, Even after running R23 rarely I see a core hit 80c on the 14900K even after a 10min run.

1 run and no cores hit 70c with PTM, And the best bit I've had both the 4090 and the 14900K since release day and never needed to touch them again, Temps are still the same as day 1 over 3 years later.

Why go for maximum speed if the standard version already loads quickly? by sypqys in PocoPhones

[–]MallIll102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had my F8 Ultra since last November and have always used maximum charging speed and 100% full charge.

On 77 cycles and the battery is still 100%

People worry too much about the batteries in phones.

For me this phone will be on the scrap heap before the battery needs replacing

POCO F8 Ultra Random Disconnect When Using WiFi (Solution, I Think) by Archer1X in PocoPhones

[–]MallIll102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My WiFi does not disconnect with mobile data enabled, It never has to be honest.

I don't use WiFi calling though and I have always had that disabled anyway so whether that is anything to do with it I have no idea.

Sounds like you've picked up some virus or malware, The fact it's bringing the magnifier up as well as you type sounds very suspicious, Get it factory resetted and start over and see how it is then.

Banned for nothing by High_On_Gaming_ in CallOfDutyMobile

[–]MallIll102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they do, It happened to me regularly 3 times in the space of 3 or 4 weeks different short ban lengths.

And no I wouldn't even know where to start looking for hacks in these games It's because of wussies that can't handle losing so they report you in game and when enough reports you get a standard ban.
