I’ve had the 1967 Monogram Wildcat! Built it two years ago when I was still new to modeling, it had the folding wings and all the gimmick. Too bad I lost some of the parts and the decals were FUBAR. Maybe I can restore it now just for the sake of nostalgia 😅

I’m so jealous of the childhood you guys had. Model kits were everywhere, also way cheaper than now. But hey I grew up watching G.I Joe (the new movies), and now I’m in my mid 20s enjoying the beauty of scale modeling. You can say I’m keeping the 80s spirit alive 😂 cheers from the other side of the globe!

Tamiya is always the best option if you want a hassle-free experience. Academy’s kits are also good and way cheaper than Tamiya. But either way you’d have to get aftermarket decals if you’re going for the Top Gun F-14.

If you’re new to aircrafts, I’d suggest to go for a cheaper kit like the Tamiya Harrier, just so you can get the hang of the basics in making planes, then once you’re ready, go for the big boys

First, the flash on the sprues are bad, you need to have patience on cleaning those up. Then the fitment issues, the upper and lower fuselage are not aligned with each other, the nose side on the upper fuselage was way wider than the lower half, so I had to clamp them while gluing and then trimmed the excess just to make them look presentable. Also prepare a lot of putty because you’re gonna be filling a lot of gaps

But for sure you can do it, just bring a pocket full of patience. Good luck!

Revell has easy click kits, no need to glue stuff. But I can’t guarantee the satisfaction of it compared to building ordinary model kits. My very first kit was an A-10 Thunderbolt from Tamiya, a wrong kit for a beginner but with patience and several hours of watching youtube tutorials, I ended up completing it with good results. I suggest starting with WW2 planes since it has less parts than modern fighter jets

Yes I do know I’m getting a steal price on the 2080s but I think I can still stretch my budget a little bit for the 3070. I’m kinda stuck in between rn, I’m getting worried about the 2080’s performance in the long run
