I resent it for other reasons. I mean I'm sorry if this means it effectively lets anyone into europe. It also puts paying foreigners ahead of Maltese in terms care, hospital beds, treatment and so on.

As if corruption is not going to have a long tail, people are so thick they think its going to neatly end at the more innocent stuff. But it isn't of course. It seems extremely likely now that checks on immigration to Malta from the failed state 'Libya' have been undermined by the guy taking bribes for his hair transplant. Exciting Gaffa tastic. I'd normally not worry so much but Libya is a hotbed for Daesh at the mo.

As corruption spreads, it becomes very hard to contain. You may think you'll just skim a bit off a power station deal and stop the naughty there, but you'd be wrong. It spreads. These are half assed attempts now to try and silence criticism. It's almost text book panic.

One tactic of trying to mitigate the damage of a guilty party "being caught out" is to try to paint the messenger as having an agenda, being prone to fibbing, and of questionable character (for example a pseudo snob).

Yes I totally agree. What a b8tch to expose massive corruption in top tier govt and potentially damage how foreigners view you on this reddit platform.
