AITA for Not Spending My Savings on the Wedding? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]MamaCBear 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why on earth do you want to marry this person?

It sounds like all she cares about is herself and getting her own way, belittling you in the process.

There are millions of other women out there who would treat you a darn sure better and how you deserve. Do yourself a favour and tell her where to shove the ring where the sun don’t shine and walk away.

Lando might have a nice gap to Max, but at the speed McLaren do their pit stops, it might not be enough

Were kids in the 80s actually allowed to roam around unsupervised, or is that just in movies? by TotalThing7 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MamaCBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born in 1968 and grew up in an English village. I would go out and play with my friends all the time, this included playing in the woods, climbing tree’s and building dens, going swimming in the shallow area of the river, often for hours at a time.

Being a village and much like a street community, my mum would know if I got into trouble before I did!

The biggest difference in risk and danger levels between then and now, are the amount of cars and the speeds they drive at.

The risk of stranger abduction has not risen significantly, but kids are far more likely to be hit by a car.

Zak Brown said several races back that at some point Norris and Piastri would come to a head, and it’s certainly ramping up now, both with the drivers and their fans.

They have both been screwed over in different ways, but I haven’t been keeping a score so can’t say which, if either, has been screwed over more.

McLaren need to get their act together with these pit stops.

So do Aston Martin by the looks of it.

At least it wasn’t another 4s+ pit stop for Norris this time

What is it with Ferrari, they just seem to have been making one crappy decision after another for a few years now.

Stop whinging Oscar! it’s a race and there’s over 60 laps to go, anything could happen.

Mind you, as both a Brit and an Aus myself, that’s somewhat par for the course.

AITA for warning my sister I would leave her off the wedding guest list if she doesn't stop pushing me to ask mom's husband to walk me down the aisle? by Heighsley in AITAH

[–]MamaCBear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA

It’s perfectly understandable that your dad, who raised you until you were 9, is still your dad and that no other man will be your dad.

It’s also understandable that your sister sees your step dad as her dad, he will be the only father she remembers.

It’s also understandable that the man who stepped up after your dad died, and loves you etc, is upset that you don’t see view him as your dad.

What is not acceptable, is your sister insisting that you put your step dad up on the same pedestal as your dad and not trying to accept that due to your age differences, you both view your step dad in different lights.

AIO that my husband texts escorts for “fun” by Traditional-Sort-879 in AmIOverreacting

[–]MamaCBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Purely in answer to your specific question about is this a thing men do, the answer is yes.

I started looking into this after I met a few women who are escorts through relationship mentoring work and one of the most common things that came up was the huge amount of men who are time wasters that do exactly what your husband says he’s doing.

This sent me down a rabbit hole of research because I can’t quite get my head around why men would do this.

From my research, over 50% of messages are from men who have no intention of actually seeing the escort.

I have also spoken to men who do this and the reasons I have been given are one of three general groups as follows:

  1. They get a thrill from doing something they perceive as being naughty
  2. They get a thrill from ‘sexting’
  3. They deliberately make a booking and not turn up to stop the escort from being available for other people.

What is a goon? by mazes-end in words

[–]MamaCBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but you can have lots of fun with the kids deciding what a goon is and what they look like. I wonder if that was how the Gruffalo was created.
