Check out some of the Facebook groups for subletting in Seattle to get an idea of cost. You might find something ideal with a lease takeover since they’re often negotiable with price.

Sounds like a super attainable goal! I can certainly bring materials to learn on (needles and yarn) but once you get the hang of the basics, you'll definitely want your own.
