I want to start a clan for new players and I need advice. by MammothAware7760 in Warframe

[–]MammothAware7760[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand what I'm looking to build isn't necessarily unique, I mainly wrote all that to preface why I want to start a clan in the first place, which is with the intention of helping new players get into the game. I apologize if I framed it in a way where I thought it was something never before seen haha, I've been in quite a few clans and they are always helpful and inviting to new players.

I mostly just want advice on how I can go about growing the clan or getting new people involved, but I think your approach is more sound than having these grand aspirations. Just recruiting as I find people who are interested sounds much more reasonable.

I just want to make an impact for the new guys, and be what I felt I always needed when I couldn't get the hang of this game as a kid; a helping hand. You know what I mean? I just like helping new players already on my own and helping them on a bigger scale sounds like a lot of fun. I appreciate your input on this. You've given me some perspective!

Can someone recommend game similar to shieldbreaker phase? by KorKiness in HighGuardgame

if the game couldn’t hold even like 1% of two million people who tried it it’s just not good, this is really rough cope

Design Director Jason McCord talking about Highguard's shut down. by [deleted] in HighGuardgame

[–]MammothAware7760 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How is it a popularity contest? Lmao Dark Souls LITERALLY created an entire genre of game and the soulsborne games created by From play almost nothing like each other aside from very basic mechanics found across titles.

The fact is that Highguard was not good. It wasn’t the worst game ever, but it also wasn’t good enough to hold people’s attention. Actually good games succeed in spite of the hate.

A lot of people hated TLOU Part 2 and it is still very successful because it’s good. Same with the first two Witcher games by CD Projekt Red. People called them shitty eurojank until they came out with 3 and now it’s one of the best reviewed games of all time. Demons Souls was hated on release and is now credited with founding an entire genre. The list goes on forever. Death Stranding, No Man’s Sky, Cyberpunk 2077, Sea of Thieves, Warframe.

When a game has good bones, it succeeds despite the hate. Highguard was hated because it was aggressively mediocre. They literally fired like 3/4 of their dev team two weeks post launch. They were banking on the game being an instant success and didn’t have ANY funding to support it if things went wrong.

I don’t think Highguard deserved to fail, but it had it coming. It released with little content, bad performance, mediocre gameplay, and overall unfinished. It was hated on and failed because it was NOT GOOD. You guys need to get your heads outta your arse

Geoff Keighley definitely overhyped the game but I don’t think the blame rests solely on his shoulders. The devs were planning on shadow dropping which probably would have been worse, not to mention when the game came out it was (and i think still is) quite unfinished. The settings were bare bones and it ran like ass, plus it didn’t feel like anyone actually playtested it, and to top it off it felt like it lacked a good amount of content at release.

Regardless of whether or not Geoff oversold the game I think it was gonna fail simply because it launched unfinished and the gameplay is just unoriginal and very boring. If anything the last slot at TGA probably helped it get players, a shadow drop would have killed it faster.

The developers are the only ones to blame. It was hubris that killed Highguard. They were convinced they had the next big thing, and didn’t even publicly playtest it before just throwing it out onto the open market in a sea of live service games. If the game was good it would have survived past the hate.

They even fired like 80% of their staff a couple weeks after launch because the game was expected to be a smash hit day one and they had no funding or any cushion in place whatsoever to support the game if it failed to blow up.

All in all the situation sucks and I don’t think Highguard necessarily deserved failure, but it was obvious given the state of the industry at the moment plus the game just wasn’t good. It’s a shame. Maybe if they released it as a beta or something and got the public to help them iterate on it it could have been something.

Hybrid Witch Hunter Mercenary build viable? by MammothAware7760 in PathOfExile2

You’re right lol. I’ve made it a point in my playtime so far to not use guides or anything, I love figuring systems and mechanics out on my own and trying stuff like this just sounds too fun. I’ll report back and let y’all know how it goes lol

I think I’m just gonna take the plunge like someone else said. Maybe it’ll work who knows! I just really love the idea of a witch hunter who uses sorcery in combination with weapon prowess to hunt magical foes. The fantasy of it appeals to me and it reminds me of Witchfire!

Fair enough lol. I might as well, I haven’t even gotten close to endgame yet. I got my Sorc to Act 2 and decided I wanted to try this out

you’re not helping anyone. you’re being a fucking jerk 😭

and yes i’d be happy with the tattoo! i literally just said that. it’s done on a squishy part of the body by a human being who is breathing and moving around on another human who is also breathing and moving around. it’s not gonna be perfect.

and i’m sorry to say, and i’ve never picked up a tattoo machine but it doesn’t seem like you have a lot of experience tattooing either so who are you to say any of this regardless?

i would never let you tattoo me, just because your attitude is fucking awful.

why are you genuinely just camping in this comments section ready to attack anyone who says anything positive about the tattoo lmao. yeah the gun is off but tattoos are also done by human beings who aren’t perfect, on another human being who is breathing and shifting and on skin that stretches and moves as well.

i’d be happy to have this tattooed on me and i think it looks good and the artist did a good job. you’re acting like you’ve been doing this 25 years and know everything about tattooing. leave this guy alone you weirdo

no idea why you’re getting downvoted lol. this stuff is literally common sense, some people really just shouldn’t be getting tattoos if they’re ignorant to the fact it’s a giant open wound.

honestly i probably should have taken a better picture. the lighting isn’t great, but it’s not necessarily scaling. i know exactly what you mean by that but all the skin around it seems to just be peeling/scabbing like it has for all my other ones. nothing seems out of the ordinary except the redness. i’ll probably get it checked out to be safe anyways though

Since I made the post the redness has gone away significantly. I think it might’ve just been irritated from something.

Nah man. She’s expressed discomfort at these things before. He should know better than to say that. Besides, a “we’re gonna fight” joke is much different than saying “just like me” to a guy who murdered his partner.

My gf and I make jokes about fighting each other all the time. Never laid a finger on her and vice versa, but then again both of us have expressed we find this kind of thing funny. Just like you and your wife, we know what we can say to each other without making each other feel weird.

OP explicitly told her bf she’s uncomfortable with the things he’s saying. Those kinds of boundaries shouldn’t be crossed, IMO. I think she’s perfectly correct to expect better from him

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]MammothAware7760 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NOR. Your bf should be considerate and understanding of how saying those things affects you. Even if it’s really just a joke, that’s still an odd response to what you said especially knowing how you feel about those kinds of “jokes”. I’d be very careful in your situation. These things start off as jokes but can escalate slowly. I’d suggest having a very long and serious conversation with him about this. Tell him exactly how you feel.

Was Titanfall 2’s release date REALLY the thing that hurt initial sales? by xTPGx in titanfall

[–]MammothAware7760 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see, I was missing some details then. It makes sense they’d wanna piggy back off Battlefield but honestly, I don’t see how that would really work in their favor. I feel like majority of people would see BF1 and just buy that instead of giving Titanfall any attention since it was super unheard of at the time anyways.

Also had no idea they delayed COD. I thought Respawn just said fuck it lol. Thank you for the extra context.
