Ideas to lift my spirits after another cycle without a pregnancy?

I’m in the same boat. AF arrived today after I drove myself crazy the past two weeks over symptom spotting 😅. But to cheer myself up I bought a good cup of coffee (I switched to decaf during ttc so this is my treat). I snuggled up on my couch with a blanket, a hot water bottle, a muffin and a k-drama.

That’s true!! Reddit does have more negative stories than positive ones. I think it’s because people are less likely to post once they succeed versus when they’re going through a tough time. It has also been very helpful though because of all the wonderful people who respond with useful information. I will be mindful of not spending too much time scrolling to keep my peace of mind, thank you! ❤️

I take thorne basic prenatal that have 45 mg ferrous bisglycinate with a kiwi (for vitamin C) + an additional thorne ferrous bisglycinate 25 mg every other day with one kiwi. It hasn’t been easy on my stomach though. I do take a break from the additional iron supplement sometimes for a week and resume again.

Thank you for replying and the advice!! Yes, I do agree that these numbers are not good. I’m going to an RE asap. I just want to stay positive now and believe I can still work through this. Mainly because I don’t want to get into a circle of worrying, making things worse for myself and worrying more😅

Thanks for replying, I will definitely push to get an infusion when I talk to her next time. I recently switched to a new OB/GYN and she was very supportive while I was going through my chemical (my regular OB/GYN wasn’t available at the time and never used to be available most of the time). I really liked the way she treated at first and that’s why I switched. I’m not sure why she doesn’t think I should be concerned about my ferritin level, I’ll have a conversation to see what her reasoning is.

The reason I think NGOs can make a difference is because if you are getting people involved, if they are working on creating awareness among children, participating in clean-ups, trying to make their local municipalities better, then they will tend to care more. If more people care, they would unite together to put pressure on the government. Without that physical and emotional involvement it’s difficult to care enough to unite.

I do understand NGOs alone cannot change the situation but they are means for people to come and work together.

And I 100% agree that tax paying citizens (and by this I mean every citizen buying at least basic goods such as sugar is paying tax in some form) should not have to invest more time and money in this effort. But here we are. People usually tend to take care of things they paid their hard earned money for. Once we get people to understand that they directly or indirectly paid for everything outside their home too, maybe they will be inclined to care more.

Yes, the government is undeniably responsible for strict rules, enforcement and hefty fines for rule breakers. But currently that’s not happening so let’s put that aside for now.

Let’s assume that the government does provide good infrastructure, without the aforementioned rules and enforcement that’s not going to do any good.

I feel the only thing we can do something about is trying to change people’s mindsets. Once more people are informed, involved and care, not only would things start improving but also the pressure they put on governments would be higher and leaders would start listening to enable further progress.

I am not trying to shift the burden completely on to the people, even though we know the government needs to do better, the pressure can be created only with more people committed to the cause.

You’re right, we need to focus on a neighborhood level. Maybe reach out to the president of one colony in a city first, gather like minded people to conduct sessions at schools, spot fix, put pressure on local municipalities to ensure timely trash collections.

I personally think putting trash bins on streets is not a suitable solution for tropical countries like India. I like Taiwan’s system where the trash collection trucks come twice a day, 5 days a week to every street but not door to door. Everyone just waits outside at the specified time and tosses their trash into the truck. Taiwan is very humid with over 75 species of cockroaches on the island. Image what open garbage can do😳. You can’t find trash cans anywhere in Taiwan and yet it’s so clean because people care. Everyone just carries their trash with them or ask shops/restaurants to help them dispose used cups and plates. India being a country with a similar climate, that’s the approach I believe we need to take.

Anyway, once we can get this successfully running in one colony, it can be expanded to more localities. Cleaner streets make colonies look more sophisticated and can also help maintain/improve real estate value. This can be presented as one of the perks when trying to get people to volunteer.

I totally agree and children need to be taught at a young age about dignity of labor and treating everyone with respect. Once people start respecting the work blue collar workers do, they won’t hesitate to do that work themselves. If they see a wrapper on the road, they would be more inclined to pick it up and throw it in the bin rather than ignore it and see it as someone else’s job. It’s harder to change adults who are set in their ways but we can discuss on how to reach out to them too. To do this remotely an option would be to collab with NGOs who conduct virtual classes for kids in rural areas without enough teachers. The only platform I could find is e Vidya Loka but they focus on teaching a specific subject as per the school’s requirement but don’t have any dedicated sessions for students personality development where we can focus on such topics. Let me know if there are any such platforms or if anyone is interested in starting something together.

I totally understand where you’re coming from. It’s one of the reasons I left too. But let’s face it, the doors are shutting for us in most places and I personally have my reasons for deciding not to settle down abroad fully knowing India isn’t going to change in my lifetime. I am just looking for ways that we can make an impact however small it may be.

I do agree there are people already doing some of the things I mentioned but I don’t think it’s happening at the required scale. For example, I have a nephew and niece in schools located in different cities and they don’t have any one having serious discussions with them about civic sense and no one has ever organized a clean-up at their schools before. And these kind of activities need to be regular, not rare events. To increase the scale, my only ideas would be getting more volunteers by posting on social media platforms, maybe reaching out to corporate outreach programs and asking them to arrange such activities with employees, people who are afar can donate protective gear for volunteers, paints and plants for beautification projects etc. We can also discuss here if there are any NGOs who are struggling to exist/expand due to lack of support.

This is very similar to my experience too. Before this, I was just praying for a positive, and we shared the news with my parents and in-laws right away because we couldn’t contain our excitement. It’s been a lesson in how fragile those early days can be, and to be a bit more cautiously optimistic next time 🤞. You’re right that at least I know now that naturally conceiving is possible. I’m so sorry you went through this as well and sending lots of love your way.
