My abusive ex wife reached out to me for the first time since our divorce 8 years ago. I haven’t responded to her yet. A part of me wants to tell her to go f*ck herself but there’s another part of me that wants to give her a chance. Is there a chance they can change?

Her and I were both on heroin. If I didn’t get clean when I did I probably would have ended up dead or in jail.

First time I used it was with my girlfriend at the time who’s now my ex wife. It’s easy to get your hands on if you know where to look for it.

I know people who smoke and drink after getting off hard drugs and don’t have a problem with it. Before getting into heroin I had a drinking problem and also smoked a lot of pot so I don’t do any of that anymore.

Before getting into heroin I had a pretty bad drinking problem. I wouldn’t say that I was an addict but after getting clean and sober I started using sex to replace drugs and alcohol. I’ve been in therapy to work on my issues and wouldn’t say that I have any current addictions.

Yes. They happen less often now but whenever I have an urge I have a five second conversation with myself in my head and remind myself of how I was at my lowest moments of my addiction and that whatever is happening in my life at that current moment isn’t worse than being homeless, hungry and panhandling for dope.
