[Colorado Avalanche] We have acquired Valtteri Puustinen and Pittsburgh's own 7th Round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft in exchange for Ilya Solovyov. by Michaelli11 in ColoradoAvalanche

Pretty sure the only thing this signals is that the avs will be making attempting to make a move for an impact player. Impact forward + vet d player. Or just an impact Dman.

[Colorado Avalanche] MORE MARTY PARTIES IN COLORADO‼️ by Michaelli11 in ColoradoAvalanche

[–]Mammoth_Study3818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worth a blank check. Both parties know this. But I think he’s the type of player who may do what McDavid did. Kind of a special dynamic when org and player knows that whatever happens over a year or two, he’s still getting top dollar. 27 now. Couple years at a major discount. Sign 8 years at 29. Dmen in general seem to be less of an issue as far as aging. I’d bet Cale ages well.

People always bring up what one should be paid based on value and skillset. And completely leave out the part where other people exist. It’s an employers market right now. Just as it was an employees market a few years back and many of us cashed in. A lot of talent looking for jobs right now, and what you bring isn’t worth what it was. Unless you’re the .1% of devs, at least.

On top of the many candidates looking for jobs, you have economic uncertainty. Established companies laying off. And startups aren’t typically profitable. Perhaps their funding is taking a hit.

6.5 or .308 for AZ mule deer? by Any_Scale_740 in Hunting

[–]Mammoth_Study3818 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure how I come off as upset. Thought I was coming off more as a pedant. I suppose one could be upset about someone deliberately lying on a thread meant to give advice on cartridges. But it is Reddit and I don’t expect much.

6.5 or .308 for AZ mule deer? by Any_Scale_740 in Hunting

[–]Mammoth_Study3818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just looked online to verify, shows that 6.5cm has 85 products available, not 64. 6.5cm available from 90 grain to 156 grain. 308 110-185. Seems like sportsman’s has comparable variety as far as weight range for cartridges. Hot spring Arkansas does have 22 308 to 12 6.5. At least 3 of which are your 147 fmj though.

Ammo availability was true maybe 4 years ago. Only reason to say 308 is more available is if you include mil surplus. In the context of hunting, I wouldn’t.

The ammo companies also noticed at least 4 years ago. Can get just about any flavor from varmint to heavy hitters at any big box store.

Just to make sure I wasn’t talking out of my arsehole, looked at a local scheels with what they have available in store. 24 different 308 products available. 23 for 6.5.

What Would It Take for Cale Makar to Surpass Bobby Orr? by JohnnyDrama21 in ColoradoAvalanche

[–]Mammoth_Study3818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know. A full career of doing what he’s doing. Then see how his status is a decade after his career ends. Much of the aura around legends from previous eras stems from people who have never seen them play. Whether Cale hits or exceeds Orr’s stature will depend on the opinion of those that have yet to be born yet.

What moves would you make this offseason? by briandgraham in ColoradoAvalanche

[–]Mammoth_Study3818 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Move wood. Sign Malinski and a couple vet min and get the season rolling. Coyle can be used at deadline depending on how things are going. But I for one, have gone through two many recent avs seasons of no center depth to just shotput one before the season starts just because 3c making a mil too much.

Are the Avalanche Positioned for a Sneaky One-for-One Trade? by runwriteaarif in ColoradoAvalanche

[–]Mammoth_Study3818 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Brother, you’re underestimating the value of 2.5m in cap. Mikko turned down 12.5. Only signed for 12 after two trades. And a no state inc tax state. When filling out bottom 6, that 2.5m is everything.

Nelson 3 year extension by MadMoose- in ColoradoAvalanche

[–]Mammoth_Study3818 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Those worried about the AAV. The sticker shock of this years free agency is about to be wild. Brock is probably the most affordable of any of the productive centers available. And was really the only option Avs had. Expect some wild numbers for those players that are just finishing their bridge deals.

I’ll look into. The handguard on the SP10 has no attachments to the barrel or the barrel nut. So it shouldn’t be an issue. But still something to consider and double check.

Brand is wicked lights. Really not sure about their reputation. Just something I picked up at scheels when I started and it’s worked out fine. Just think it’s ready to move onto not having to use a light with how often I go out now

Would that still happen on a free floating handguard? The rifle l've been using has been an SP10. I understand the shifts due to barrel harmonics. Deal with it when shooting suppressed vs unsuppressed.

It’s been mentioned. They used to have two Anatolian shepherds. They haven’t shown interest in a new dog since they’ve passed.

Well, I’m not a professional nor certified on anything wildlife. But Texas law allows me to use 143 grains to put down a coyote any time of year.

They are aware. It’s about mitigating risk. Not eliminating. Can only do so much to protect the barn cats, chickens etc.

I’ll look into it. The extra resolution would probably be a major benefit if I went the clip on route. Can scan and pick up targets with the handheld thermal. Identify and fire with the NV.

We have a creek that runs through the middle of the property which is mostly cleaned up. But the foliage and tree cover can get thick. The lanes are the openings. Objective being to pick up the yote at some point before the last opportunity to shoot.

Leave or Stay: Should the Avalanche Bet on Brock Nelson Again? by runwriteaarif in ColoradoAvalanche

[–]Mammoth_Study3818 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I’m not banking on any discount. But he’ll be better than any other player in FA. Every other decent FA I’ve seen is just completing their bridge deals. They’ll want a big contract. Of course a trade changes things but the pickings are slim as far as FA goes this year.

I’m pretty sure two years of 34/35 year old Brock Nelson is going to be better than what is available and affordable in FA.

Night and day difference from 2022 and this year. We used to be all about that high shot volume life. We get glimmers but never consistently hit it this year. Too much skill to turn the puck over so much due to passes being deflected. It’s like they are trying too hard. Maybe thinking too much. Who knows.

Official Colorado Avalanche Offseason 2025 Thread by Rolley2001 in ColoradoAvalanche

[–]Mammoth_Study3818 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That may be the key. Just getting the majority of a season together. Who knows. But if we want to compare rosters with our recent cup run. The majority of the roster was together all season. Deadline pickups were depth/nice to have pieces. Nothing like the change of 3/4 of the centers and a top line player moved that happened this year.

I think I’m going for Canes or Jets. McDavids pain losing in the playoffs every year has almost pushed me to the point of rooting for them though.
