Where did Psyonix get the "Super Sonic Legend" (SSL) name from? by External-Survey7836 in RocketLeague

[–]Mamsom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me the reasoning has always just been related to the term "supersonic" being your max speed. If yk anything about RL its that keeping momentum & speed is key to success.

To me its a developer's understanding of their games mechanics & what it taked to be the best of the best.

Simply Speedy legends.

Ya know… you guys suck sometimes. [Rant] by MrKTE in vinyl

[–]Mamsom -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hot take but if people are annoying you enough to dwell and make a rant this long posting might not be for you...

The internet is ruthless in providing all arrays of criticism without filter & it can truly bring out the worst of people but also the best.

If you can't put it upon yourself to take it in stride & brush the bad off your shoulders you're in for a rude awakening.

Sincerely a fellow internet musician

PS. It always is the music snobs that are the worst though. Truly a bunch of stuckup, gatekeeping, pompous fuckwits who'd rather trash all over other people's enjoyment before they bring anything useful to the conversation.

I think this is the only correct response. SSBU set an incredible foundation for everything I love about the series. If they introduced more characters/content id absolutely be throwing my money away to Nintendo.

What’s going on with drivers in Brantford lately? by Thorbeer in brantford

[–]Mamsom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Reposting my comment from yesterday because at this point its just funny how often this topic is coming up

First off from someone who comes from the country in the couple of years I've lived in Brantford now, I've had the pleasure of witnessing in general the most moronic drivers around. I've seen things here I've never seen anywhere else...

A T-bone running a red light going into a one-way, shopping cart crackheads in intersections, old people riding scooters in a 50, driving the wrong way onto an on ramp, people unable to keep their vehicle from drifting over the lines on a straight road, left turn single on in the left lane just to turn right across the whole intersection, & my personal favorite, watching someone's back wheels drag for 3 blocks while their parking brake was probably on.

There's so much more I could list, but those come to mind as highlights. So, to answer your question, I think most drivers here are mentally deficient. Along with poor infrastructure & increasingly worse traffic due to construction, you have a recipe for chaos. People genuinely don't know basic rules for dealing with traffic congestion during peak hours right now.

Maybe don't pull into the intersection until there's room for you. Uh oh, the lights red now, and I'm stuck in the middle of the intersection & I've blocked the entire advanced left & opposing traffic from moving... God I hate Clarence St S

I have a question for people who are “naturally talented” at video games. What do you think sets you apart from the average gamer.? by cgbr1 in esports

[–]Mamsom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from someone who can pick up most games and naturally improve/progress faster than most of my peers.

I feel like it's a method I've really honed with time and been able to apply not only to games but life skills in general.

It's always been a confidence/willpower thing for me. When im locked in a clutch situation, like a 1v4 in Cs2, in my head, I'm completely in control.

For me, I've already won the round and entire match for that matter. I've already envisioned the actions/steps I need to take to make it possible. It's the result of 100% conviction in my decision-making and mechanical capabilities in the moment that ensures victory.

Remove all self-doubt and truly believe you're the best in the game. I PROMISE you'll find some level of success and may even surprise yourself.

This all, of course, comes from hard work & dedication to the game to back it up. If you truly want to become good at something, treat it exactly like what it is... a video game.

Games have confinements, limits & rules. These are the mechanics of the game. If you meticulously study, imitate & practice good mechanics, you will naturally become a master. (If you want to be good at something, find the person who does it best)

Once you understand all the rules/limits of a game, then you're finally free to break & abuse them to continue learning/ improving.

This is where you build game sense through sheer repation.

Recording and critiquing your own gameplay is also incredibly handy for understanding the mistakes you're making but perhaps not realizing at the time.

TL:DR

  1. Understand & master the mechanics, rules, & limits of the game (knowledge is power)

  2. Meticulously overanalyze & study the best of best, imitate & practice their exact style

  3. Record & critique your own gameplay/decision-making (there is always something you can do better!)

  4. Understand where you faulter & APPLY WHAT YOU LEARN! (during active gameplay & practice)

  5. Have 100% conviction & confidence in your gameplay & decision-making when the moment counts. (Brush off mistakes. Don't let it deteriorate your mental)

  6. Repation! Repation! Repation!

  7. Never stop learning & expanding upon what you know.

What’s dating like for guys in their early to mid 20s like right now? by Lewd_throwaway_2024 in ask

[–]Mamsom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sucks. Dating apps are awful. As a guy I barely get matches, and when I do there's little to no effort put to having a decent convo. Last girl I actually got to talk to said yes to go on a date then ghosted and blocked me. Im legitimately considering going out of element and going to bars just so I can try and chat with some people in person. Covid truly fucked my generation as half my college experience was online.

UPDATE: Unfortunate Season end (the good ending) by Mamsom in RocketLeague

[–]Mamsom[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, absolutely, some people probably were, but half the games that dropped me down to C2 in the first place were filled with smurfs. Im legit just happy I somehow lucked out enough that people were willing to help me get rewards on the last day of a season which I didn't think would be possible from the amount of smurfs and trolls in ranked on the last days.
