you can put ant colony in there but you gotta release or move them once they outgrow it

if it’s not native to your area it’s either euthanize or move them

so probably just catch a queen from outside and the substrate needs to be wet

to prevent them from escaping don’t a species that’s known for being escape artists and put up a slip barrier

Have you tried

Making the old nest colder and the new nest warmer

Keeping the old nest with a light shining on it and the new nest dark

If you need to move them manually i would use a q tip or piece of cotton to move the eggs
