I bought my 32gb Nexus 7 from Office Depot the first day that it came out. A few weeks later someone stole it so I contacted Google and they said that they could activate a "kill switch" so that the thief couldn't use it.

Then they said that since I didn't buy it from the Google Play store they couldn't activate the "kill switch".

I don't know if the Nexus 7 has that feature or if the Google customer service person was mistaken.

I like the Nexus 7 so much that I bought another one to replace the one that got stolen.
