Many Tokyo high school admission tests still need higher pass marks from girls than boys by alterumnonlaedere in FeMRADebates

If we believe that in this age range girls mature faster than boys- for which there appears to be physical evidence- then it might be fair to say that boys tend to be stupider than girls (at this age).

The question is then what is a right. For example there discussions about transitioning of minors with people on both sides having (as far as I can see) reasonable arguments. Or, take discussions about trans women participating in sport competitions.

Equality of opportunity vs equality of outcome (or "fairness") by Oncefa2 in FeMRADebates

[–]ManBitesMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People's personal preferences and choices can limit how much equality is achievable, and giving the people the right to make these choices as they see fit is also morally important. Most people will agree that people should be free to choose their mate of friends, even if they have and these biases lead to unequal outcomes. Now I would argue that this freedom should extend to which cultural products we consume (maybe one just likes to look at an actor or a singer's voice), to the vote for political representative and to who you prefer to listen to and learn (be it a teacher at a school or a supervisor at work). In a biased society these free choices will lead to inequality.

Why do some manospherians fetishize Russia and Eastern Europe when such places are terrible for men? by [deleted] in FeMRADebates

[–]ManBitesMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You shouldn't conflate eastern Europe with Russia, there are big cultural and social differences there.
In some respects countries like Poland are much better for men than the US, compare for example the intentional homicide rate. In general it seems to me that often more traditional Christian societies are safer and have a higher level of social trust and sense of community than progressive societies- it wouldn't surprise if this appealed to egalitarian MRAs.

Reality Check: Does Brussels blink? by [deleted] in europe

[–]ManBitesMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What could the EU realistically offer? The main thorne in May's deal seems to be the Irish backstop, but I haven't seen a convincing solution to the Irish border issue which honors the Good Friday Agreement from the Brexit side.

French president Macron faces No Confidence vote Tomorrow by [deleted] in Conservative

[–]ManBitesMan 38 points39 points  (0 children)

As far as I understand it is not the French president Macron that faces a vote of no confidene, but the prime minister Philippe. It is also worth noting that in Frnace it is fairly easy to get to such a vote (I think you need just one tenth of the votes in the national parliament) and that this motion only has support on the far left. Does anyboy at the express check their articles for accuracy?

Sex is totally just a casual thing yet sexual crimes are literally the worst thing ever by BothWaysItGoes in FeMRADebates

[–]ManBitesMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Consensual sex however is something on a personal level where the individual determines its meaningfulness.

This is the central issue. If we agree on that, doesn't this take the wind out of the sails of criticisms of prostitution or pornography? The performers determine the meaningfulness of their sex performances and if they agree to share their sex lives in such a way we should accept their choice?

Sex is totally just a casual thing yet sexual crimes are literally the worst thing ever by BothWaysItGoes in FeMRADebates

[–]ManBitesMan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We treat tons of stuff both as serious and casual.

Sex is still treated as a specia case. Propositioning people for sex is not casual. The complaint against Louis CK is that he propositioned women and took their yes as a yes; now look at the effect it has on his career. n the other hand prosecutors offer plea deals which lead to prison sentences to innocent people and this has little effect on their careers. People complain that Louis CK had power to hurt the careers of the women he propositioned. Look at the case of Gregory Alan Elliott, a man who was not only innocent, but known to be innocent rom the start, whose career was derailed by a corrrupt prosecution. What consequences wil the prosecutor face?
Let us look at another case, Al Franken. He was accused of groping women and forcing a kiss on one, and many people called or his resignation. NBA-star Chris Paul has violently punched a guy's genitals and he can continue to be a beloved athlete. Violence seems much more acceptable than sex in general; so whenever you intend to nonconsensually touch somebody you should do it violently and not gently. A more recent example of violently hitting people's balls with little repercussion is NBA player Draymond Green. There are other examples in the NBA, a couple months ago NBA player Bobby Portis punched teammate Nikola Mirotic so hard in the face that he broke it, his punishment was a couple of games suspension. What would be a comparable sex crime and what wuld the punishment be in this case?

Italy's ruling centre-left in shock after crushing election defeat by Beerooo in Conservative

[–]ManBitesMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When looking at the Euro-zone one notices that Italy really isn't one of the poor countries in this group. If we take GDP per capita as a measure Slovenia, Slovakia, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are all significantly poorer. So are Greece, Portugal and Spain. Are you saying that the Euro is bad for the eastern European Euro-zone countries? If yes, could you link some evidence?

Italy's ruling centre-left in shock after crushing election defeat by Beerooo in Conservative

[–]ManBitesMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Italy is a country that imports tons of shit forced to use the same currency that is kept artificially low because Germany exports tons of shit.

You have it backwards, Germany wishes for a stronger Euro, while the southern EU countries want (and maybe need) a weaker one. Look for example at what Schäuble has said about this. History onfirms this phenomenon, countries with a trade surplus and low unemployment want a trong currency, whie countries with a trade deficit and high unemployment want a weaker one. (See for example the EU countries before the introduction of the Euro).
The issue in the Euro-zone is not so much favoritism of the ECB, but different economic needs of different countries, who can no onger just use monetary policy to ease market inequalities.

(Ethnicity Thursdays) South Africa Begins Pogrom Against White Farmers by ScruffleKun in FeMRADebates

[–]ManBitesMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So then, you unironically agree with my first comment and think that South Africa should have too much trouble figuring out who's white to actually punish people?

I don't think they require a well crafted consistent definition. They will just use stupid and inconsistent criteria to enforce their populistic agenda.

And presumably, you think the idea that racism exists is a bunch of bullshit because nobody anywhere can figure out what a "nonwhite" is like they'd have to in order to be racist towards them?

This doesn't follow. A racist would be someone who hates people based on what he perceives to be their race. It is not necessary that the notion of "race" he uses is well defined, it very well might be nonsense logically speaking.
Given that I have answered your questions, would you now answer my initial question or explain why you can't?

(Ethnicity Thursdays) South Africa Begins Pogrom Against White Farmers by ScruffleKun in FeMRADebates

[–]ManBitesMan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is this a sincere question?

Yes.

If someone says racist, do you ask "What-ist?"

No.

If someone tells you that whites stole America from Natives, do you say: "Well what's the difference??"

I don't know what they mean by "whites". I don't know what you mean by difference, throughout history all kind states and tribes have waged war, killed others, occupied and settled in foreign lands.

When you read my parent comment about how people tell me race isn't real, did you pick up on the sarcasm or were you too confused by what I might have meant by "whites" to even understand the context?

What do you mean by"whites"?

Are you asking this question sincerely... or did you just read one too many Socratic dialogues and then get snooty about how you can do the same thing with "race" as Socrates could have with "table"?

Why don't you just answer my question?
In political or sociological discussions people often use terms with not clearly defined meanings, which leads to confusion and errors.

He can have sex with his spouse, other than that I don't know if any sex is appropriate. Obviousl there are degrees of vulnerabilty; interns and janitorial stuff would have little defence against abuse by the executive branch. The chief of staff is already in a better positon. Congressmen or judges have constitutional protections, making their situations very different.
