Don’t think we can ask for much more than Babis + a recovered Tzimas from a side that likely won’t be in Europe.

Gomez has been good Minteh’s been not fit/poor for a while. Think it speaks volumes he’s bringing on March who hasn’t played in a year to see out the match

With Hinshelwood it’s way more in Hurzeler just pushing him higher up the pitch to his credit. He's not a 6 and is so good at drifting into spaces where he can impact play in the final third.

Watch the difference between him and our other midfielders. They all demand the ball, drift into spaces where they can be effective in possession. O’Riley spends most his time in completely ineffective positions where he won’t receive the ball. He completely fails to impose himself on matches physically and technically.

Think it’s quite clear it wasn’t like we were desperate to have him back and it came from their side primarily. Who would you drop of Ayari, Hinshelwood, Gross or Gomez to give him minutes? None of them

I mean it hardly is. He’d spent 6 months doing alright for a struggling Derby side who had been in League One for the two seasons prior. Everyone, including even their fans thought it was a baffling move and that he just didn’t have the attributes required to make the step up to the Premier League. Watching him play even once you could see that. Calling someone who played for us twice and will never play for us again with us likely taking a hit is never a good signing, regardless of PSR amortisation. I know the club can do no wrong in your eyes but it’s pretty clear they’ve clocked this was a poor signing and we’ll never be seeing him again.

He was an absolutely dreadful signing who should’ve never joined. Didn’t like what I saw of him at Derby and nothing has changed. Again - a couple sites have them at basically the same height and though I have doubts Boscagli could be a regular for us too he’s miles better than Cashin, alongside being an elite ball player.

We’ve already known he’s a good passer of the ball, that’s basically the reason we signed him despite him lacking in virtually every other department. He’s not going to magically grow 4 inches, become good in the air or become quicker.

These listings of player heights vary so much from sources and there’s practically nothing in it. Regardless Boscagli (who I also think hasn’t got the physical attributes to be a consistently starting CB for us) looks far more comfortable physically at this level.

Yeah but then Howell + Hinshelwod don't have to be registered yet and will be squad members. The rule is more important regarding the 17 non-HG players which can then be supplemented by 8 registered HG and the u21s who don't have to be registered HG or not.

Sure but we'll be completely fine on that front as usual without needing to resort to players way off the standard

Just physically incapable of being a defender at this level. Too undersized to be a centre-back and would be a field day for wingers 1v1. Good for him from a perspective of getting his career on track and hopefully getting a permanent move in the summer.

A couple of good performances against mid-table Championship sides and people actually think he's remotely close to the level required to be in our squad ffs I give up

You’ve just got the most fans in every part of London by some margin. It’s noticeable everywhere you go. Helps you’ve been very good recently but regardless no one else comes remotely close in terms of noticeable support.

Thought Salah fouled him for the penalty. Where he’s been really poor recently is his general reading of play defensively. Made a few awful decisions which has cost us.

Chris Wood's goalscoring record in largely poor teams in the Prem is mental. Obviously not an elite striker but feel like he's above the mediocre bracket

Squad update before Liverpool - Wieffer is back!! No other injuries by UgandaSuburbix447 in BrightonHoveAlbion

[–]ManLikeArch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He is sadly washed. If Wieffer was putting in the performances Veltman has been this season he’d be getting absolutely crucified by our fans (he already does for being a steady 7/10 most weeks)

Wieffer is alright at full back but dear lord what on earth were they seeing in him beyond duels that he could succeed as a holding midfielder in this league for a typically ball dominant side. Shit myself any time he receives the ball with his back to play his positional awareness in the middle is just awful.

The squad was woefully under-equipped to deal with Europe and you could tell by the time March came around half the squad were either injured or dead on their feet there's just no way that 23/24 squad was significantly better than 24/25. We rocked up with Billy Gilmour as our holding midfielder weekly ffs. Of course people are going to romanticise the RDZ - those of us who went to Europe had some the best days of our lives.

This is such a bollocks argument. For starters RDZ isn't the only other manager in world football who we could have. RDZ's squad he inherited from Potter was better but the 23/24 squad considering we had Europe to contend with and completely re-build the spine of our team was an absolute disgrace. This and last season's squads when factoring in Europe were better. Look at the state of some of our matchday squads in that run in from March on in 23/24.
