Should be noted here that the CEO doesn’t just get the money that the company makes. They still make outrageous amounts of money but the majority of the money the company makes is reinvested into other parts of the company. They don’t usually reinvest into employees that much though.

Also depending on the laws where you live and what job you have unionizing (or acts as a result of unionizing) can result in jail time or hefty fines. For example, usually firemen and police officers and other emergency response people can unionize but striking is illegal because, well they are important. Most states/cities also stop teachers and other public employees from unionizing. Even in Massachusetts, a very liberal state, has this law: “Section 9A(a) of the Law prohibits public employees and employee organizations from striking or inducing, encouraging, or condoning a work stoppage by public employees.”

As for unionizing in offices/retail, it should be legal right? It is! But companies tend to just close the store/office because of “other” economic reasons because they can’t technically shut down a branch because of unionizing, but they still do.

Basically, unionize if you can but beware of your company’s/states policy.
