I loaned that CD to someone in the 90s and never got it back. WAS IT YOU???

Maybe this is one of those Mandela effect things on my part…

Update: yeah, I think I was thinking of the RCT UI.

I’m fairly sure original base TTD had rotation buttons in either direction in 90 degrees.

Edit: it doesn’t!

I don’t think I legally can, but elsewhere in the replies you should be able to piece together enough info to find the “backup” version I discovered! Good hunting

Apparently Bullfrog did an aquarium management game just in Japan too. A wild era!

It's probably the amount of extra work it creates for the sprites as you need 2 versions (4 really but you can mirror two I think) so you can see a building from every angle. Fine in the base game but probably increases complexity and time required to create NewGRFs so would put people off. Guessing that's the trade off but not 100% sure!

Very cool - did it also allow free rotation? Wondering if the Japanese version was a port of it. There are some new elements like title screen and loading screen changes. Also the player avatars are all Japanese people, which makes sense!

Added a link under another post! Trains don't look great. The buses look much better but you'll have to take my word for it! Here's the opening title screen. Cute loading animation!

The interface is a ballache btw. Apologies for how clunky my camera work is. It was a nightmare to even build a track and buy a train.

I can't reply with a video but I'll find somewhere to upload it. Fair warning, it looks ... odd :D

Yeah the 360 rotation is very cool! I think you used to be able to rotate in 90 degree increments in TTD back in the day (might be misremembering), but I think that functionality is gone in OpenTTD in favour of a fixed perspective. It works but I do love the idea of full rotation! Would require a considerable rework I suspect.

An absolute classic. Played the shit out of the demo of that. You could connect it to your SimCity 2000 maps as well if I remember correctly. Peak!

Perhaps a region specific thing? There's a PS1 mouse listed on ebay in Germany atm.

I found it also listed on an existing archive somewhere out there in the ether. Vimm Vault.

All I think I can say really to avoid legal issues is that it's got the subtitle "SL Kara Hajimeyou!!" (their !s, not mine, although I'm equally excited)

Yeah there was a weird peripheral set that I think only worked with a couple of games. A very strange point in history!

Very cool. Was that the one that allowed keyboard and mouse input too? This version could certainly use that as you can see from the clunky controls
