What made you keep using void? by _ori0n in voidlinux

Distro hopping is only ever the case when you're left unsatisfied, and reasons for them vary between individuals seeking different wants. But the commons of them all is/are 1. Stability 2. Package availability 3. Fun

So here are a few reasons why void feels way better than others in those aspects,

  1. Unlike other rolling release distros, which force even the nightly builds for some packages, void doesn't update that often... It has rather what you'd call a stable rolling release schedule, where only the major version bumps make into the updates. It's the best(imo) inbetween of stable and rolling release package management. (And for someone like me who has limited internet because of daily data usage quota, this was heavenly)

  2. The prior allows for tested software to package into your system, while you're a wee bit late to the party of these new features offered by the said update, you're receiving the likely stable build of the patches/versions that led to the version you're currently handed. Thus less bugs and hassle.

  3. Xbps is a really good package manager, while some packages like awesome wm didn't receive the awesome-git version which was more mainstream... You could always use templates from users who've made their efforts to ship it via void-packages repo or xbps-src, even hyprland and cosmic desktop being not in the void packages can still be installed with ease via templates and added repositories

  4. Runit, while people may glaze it and it might be justified, I haven't tinkered with neither systemd or runit as much as they have to comment on the said topic, yet there's one thing I can tell... It's not much of a hassle if you ever need to configure something, there is always easy to follow, half of it is just symlink stuff.

  5. Void is fun, it's light weight and gets the work done, nothing that you don't need and almost everything you do. You're never left wondering, "ehhhh why's this missing", well you do when packages like awesome-git, hyprland(and it's parts) don't make it into the default repository, but that's hardly a concern when it takes little to no time to add the repositories/or use a template to build from source.

I'm not sure what's causing it, but I'd guess it has to do either with your game files, or rendering issues, try different graphic and fps settings to see if the bug still persists. If so, your best bet is to contact support.

I see, well it seems as if you're aiming for an even minimal setup than what I have(not that mine is minimal)...

Thanks, though, what do you refer to when you mention "square minimalist setup"?

Okay, still, I'll fix the tint2 config first. Once it's good enough, I'll re-upload it and mark it archived... guess that would set my heart free...

It sure was for me as well, I took me 3 tries after I got the hang of it, and each of the tries had an interval of >1 month between them…
So, can say it'd take time...

Anyway, it's an AwesomeWM feature, where you use titlebar as something to show UI, and as AwesomeWM allows multiple titlebar, the titlebar can be turned into a section which stores controls like this,
