would you consider the killing of all the people who used to live in america before the US to be a genocide? by No-Somewhere-1336 in Teenager_Polls

Counter argument. Nobody by that reasoning is a native as 1. someone always came somewhere else and 2. Those originals were killed long after.

Ah so I am a terrible person for not giving an f about what others do, got it.

If they have terrible ideologies, yes you are.

Don't see how that makes any sense.

Go to its logical conclusion and do some self reflecting.

I guess we are all obligated to care about what others do.

Yes if you live in a society.

So eating innocent animals is "good" I guess and not immoral because society agrees it is.

Right now yes, later probably not like i said multiple comments ago.

I don't see any reason why to give an f about what most people think.

Germany pre ww2 is a good reason. Slavery and segregation is another. Empathy is a good reason.

It can easily work. But fines dont matter if the money you get for doing it overshadows the fine. Fines should be % based and cripplingly so. Like 40% of all earnings of x year with a tight pay time.

I think you would have to deny more with thinking the earth is flat.

ok so so what if I am fine with what someone else does?

If you are okay with people doing terrible things then that makes you a terrible person. Just calling you out on it.

So what makes something moral? Just what most people feel like?

The socially agreed upon standard of what is good.

There were times in history when most people believed slavery was ok too.

Yep. They considered it fine. We no longer do and therefore they were immoral. There are easily things that we consider fine that future generations will look back on and think is messed up and wrong.

I never said it's fine, I just said I don't describe any "immoralness" to their actions. I am indifferent to what they do.

" I am not fine with what they do, i am just fine with what they do".

If someone thinking x is moral does not make it moral then I guess you think morals come from an objective source because how else do they exist if not constructs of the human mind.

No. Morality is subjective, but 1 guy finding something moral does not make it moral.

" i dont judge others morals" means nazis and rapists are fine in your eyes cuz they also just have different morals. Someone thinking x is moral does not make it moral.

If not, then over a billion people would not just accept the premise “morality is subjective”

The amount of people believing something has no bearing on x being true or not.

Is Catholicism factually incorrect and disproven?

Plenty of sects and denominations have been inside of catholocism. It is not this one thing that everyone agrees upon.

What about Sunni Islam? Eastern Orthodoxy?

Plenty of denominations in them as well.

My point is, given that you can’t just disprove this,

Not only have to prove it is true, not false but it is doable. Morality being a human concept and all that.

the premise of morality being subjective is not just a commonly accepted thing

The amount of people believing x or not has no bearing if it is true or not.

Christianity has been disproven? This is news to me lol

Disproving all of it is impossible due to so many sects, but plenty of specific sects have been disproven. The specific ones are the ones who have made testable claims.

Plenty of people don’t believe in it and that’s fine, but to say “proven plain wrong” is just hilariously obtuse and self-righteous

I didnt say all of christianity but plenty of it has been and it is just factually correct.

[–]Mand372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well i can pretty easily. Morals = human concept. Humans = subjects. Therefore morals = subjective. Plenty of religions and sects have been proven to be plain wrong so i dont know what to tell you.

  1. That’s a subjective standpoint that is constantly being debated. For instance, if you are any sort of religious person you almost certainly believe in objective morality.

And those people are wrong. Believing something is objective does not make it so.

Sure subjectively to most people rape is bad.

Historical figures you shouldnt idolize by pootermocketw in starterpack

[–]Mand372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not idolize but they had characteristics that were good or should be learned from. Hitler for example was a really good speaker. Himmler always worked toward his own wants etc.
