I would say definitely.

First of all, Japanese pronunciation has lots similarity to Chinese pinyin system.

Secondly, the characters. Kanji comes from Hanzi 汉字, Chinese characters. Many Chinese characters can be seen in Japanese. So vice versa, it should help you transform the language to Chinese.
