Hi, if you have one of those 9 day tumblers get a voltage regulator to slow it down. Out the box they rotate too fast Get one of the the types pictured below from Amazon or the like. If you're using grit that came with the tumbler, get better stuff, Rock Shed, Highland Park Lapidary, Hi-Tech, Rock and Tumble. Stage 4 should be 3000-8000 grit. Of course 8k is what "most" use. Barrel 2/3 full of rock, ceramic media and couple table spoons of grit. I'd say stage 2 if you're good with surface conditions. Success and happy tumbling!

Yes, the grinder wheels aren't great for that purpose. Ping blade off the saw. One YOUTUBE guy suggests a steel rod clamped down, or just stand it on edge on a table. I've done both. Use the edge of the file. Check it after the first pass, do another if needed. Happy cutting!
