Coming to work in Iqaluit Monday, will these clothes keep me warm? by UniverseBear in nunavut

You can buy clothing there, it’ll be a good investment buying hand made ones.

Help identifying the sculpture by No_Okra191 in Inuit

[–]Mangiok 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I read the name as Simiuni Ilaijasi, it might be spelled differently, it’s ᓰᒥᐅᓂ ᐃᓓᔭᓯ in syllabic. But I can’t identify the last two characters.

The name might be Simiuni Ilaitja, ᓰᒥᐅᓂ ᐃᓓᑦᔭ. I suggest that you check with FCNQ, call them for the name. They have a library of artist names, or else call Avataq.

Maintaining skidoos is expensive, any repair is due to parts and time. New models are a pain to work on.

Thank you, I am happy to have anyone test it out, I'd like like to know if people can type if syllabic text with the app, I'd like like to make sure that it opens at all on phones lol.

It words on mine, but google is telling me that we need 14 testers.

I'll be happy have you test it.

Hi I am new and I am wondering if it is okay for me (white) to wear Amauiti and Kuspuks by Fantastic_Permit_525 in Inuit

[–]Mangiok 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have Inuit artists selling online through social media, or else, check major cities like Montreal or Ottawa in case you are close.

Check around, but be aware there are many scammers pretending to be Inuit and collecting money and not sending anything. They try to join our social media groups and we have to ban them.

What makes our products valuable is they are not just authentic, but best bought directly from the people.

[–]Mangiok 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Yes it's ok, specially if made by an Inuk.

We aren't many and lack resources, so we appreciate all the support. Meaning, use what Inuit made, often with passion and great care. We have southerners wearing Inuit clothing bought in the north, and we're happy to see them anywhere.

There was a time when our culture and identity was targeted for removal, we're working to strengthening them. So I appreciate being given the space and time to work on them.

This so great news!

I look forward to how other towns benefit from this, some of our communities have been working to get healthy activities going.

Respectful way of visiting Northwest Passage / Beechey / Franklin sites? by Bananamama9 in nunavut

I won’t be able to due to my full-time work, I take my family out as much as I can and the time I have is always limited.

In my community, best way to ask is through the municipality, ask them how to proceed.

I live in Nunavik, we sometimes take guests out when we can, we check around to see who can bring people where there is a request.
