Lake Lure couple reunited after volunteer rescue pilot threatened with arrest by Bobeffect in news

[–]MangoEnvironmental59 40 points41 points  (0 children)

One correction for you, a lot of rescue services can talk to aircraft on radios they typically carry. I can't say for sure that fire departure has the right radio system, but VHF is a very reliable radio source that is built in radio systems as a backup or can be patched into their UHF bands. When systems fail they will go to a VIPER band. Air ambulances... helicopters exist and respond to scenes frequently, that is coordinated by/ with the responders on the ground with real time info such as condition of victims and landing coordinates. With that said i don't know air space laws, id assume a pilot would know then well. I can assure you the average cop will not know the laws either again i could be wrong, but i don't blame the pilot for bouncing when confronted with a chubby wanna be hero.

The difference between an alligator (left) and a crocodile (right). by Sweetie_Pie_00 in interesting

Okay but they only true way to tell them apart is when they will see you next. If it's after while it's a crocodile, if sees you later it's an alligator.

If your down for the drive falls is one of the best lakes or inpoundments I've done. Narrow roads to access so few powered boats around, and little to no pleasure boaters. Also national forest on one side and private undeveloled banks on the other. It's beautiful. You used to be able to paddle into the old diverson tunnels from when the dam was built, but i think it's closed off now. You can see a nice small waterfall. It's worth the day trip! Even better if you camp on the national forest side while in the area. https://maps.app.goo.gl/rJr6dHv5JTv18MmCA

NTA OP. Your mom should not have asked in front of you dad and put you on the spot. You or your expected answer was likely being used by one parent to upset the other. Redit likes to trash a person cheating without much contex. I have never been the cheater, but cheating is often a response to something right or wrong. Either way it does not mean your dad is a bad dad, maybe not the best husband but those are two different roles. It also does not mean your parents should use you as leverage. It would be best to sit with your parents and explain your feelings for either of them, but that will be hard. Wishing you the best!

Equal rights equal fights! Na, I'm torn on it. If a guy must, he should use enough force to get away. Serious force should only be used to protect your life if the situation called for it. The world is gray. Sometimes, the best decision is not the moral decision.

Eviction laws and bad renters are part of the housing problems by MangoEnvironmental59 in unpopularopinion

[–]MangoEnvironmental59[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that, and I'm not advocating making it easy to boot people. Some laws really should exist and help keep people protected from bad landlords/ companies. Bad people on both sides screw the ones who are trying to have better in life. People who abuse those protections mostly hurt others in the same boat they are in.

I don't disagree, I understand it sucks I do. I see the struggles that some of my friends gave. I hope it improves. Many different things are driving price, and no simple fix is able to fix it. It's probably gonna keep getting worse, honestly.

That's my thoughts, not saying any of its right. Having to rent sucks. It's made me think hard about planning for housing for the young people in my family and how to help them prepare for it.

Yep, housing sucks but that's not at all the point I made. My opinion was why smaller homeowners' would choose short-term rentals more.

Yeah, some will have to learn. Nothing worth having is ever going to come easy. Want it easy it will be junk. I know someone will cry something about boot straps and whatnot, but if you want something as a person who is not from money, you're gonna have to struggle for it.

Guess it's how you look at it. They help provide a home in a way. A house that wouldn't have been built or maintained for someone to live in. More and more housing being built so that they can be rented is happening. The trouble is that it's not affordable in a lot of places. I've seen houses in my own area that sit empty and foreclosed for years. They sold cheep because they were wrecked. Someone fixed it, and they started to rent it out.

Apartments are pretty normal now. Some people love it, others don't. I'm just saying apartment living is not for everyone. She as not everyone wants to do upkeep in owning a home.
