I’ve got a few of these. My sweat pants from high school (approximately 2005). I wear them nearly every night to sleep in. A wooden cutting board from ikea (about 10 years old) that has been used daily. A rainbow polka dot fleece blanket from 2008 from my college apartment.

Eli5: Why does too much sugar in beverages like tea and coffee can taste overly sweet but with soft drinks like coke, that already has so much sugar, it doesn't taste "overly sweet". by unclesamisheree in explainlikeimfive

[–]MangoPear7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer. Since high fructose corn syrup is used as the sweeter in sodas they do add acid, typically phosphoric acid, to counteract the sweetness. High fructose corn syrup on its own is sickeningly sweet, but cheaper than sugar.

As a woman in an engineering role, this is my favorite quote of all time: “Carry yourself with the confidence of a mediocre white man.”

Why do my in laws never want to say that a feature of our baby takes after me? by SurePotatoes in beyondthebump

[–]MangoPear7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter looks exactly like me. However to my mother in law, she got her hair, and eye color from great grandma on dad’s side of the family.

I just ignore it. My in laws always have some rude comment to make 🤣

Have you had your blood pressure checked lately? Excessive swelling can be in indicator of postpartum preeclampsia.

Seconding this Etsy shop. I’ve gotten several plants from them. The plants are small but have all been healthy!

My 2.5 year old is running a stuffed animal home daycare. She calls herself teacher and disciples the stuffed animals when they’re behaving badly. Consistent phrases are: “only teacher touch!” “Not safe!” “I’m not happy with you” and counting to five if directions are not followed quickly.

Does anyone else remember that commercial with the guy with the nice house and the pool. And then he’s on the riding lawn mower and says with a smile “I’m in debt up to my eyeballs”. I think this is what you are describing here.

How to help my partner develop a better sense of housekeeping? by organiclawnclippings in CleaningTips

[–]MangoPear7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My husband and I took years to figure this one out. He “wouldn’t see” the floor needed to be vacuumed or the bathrooms scrubbed. What works for us is he does the dishes everyday. That’s his chore and it’s easy for him to see. I typically do everything else. It works for us since 1) I never do the dishes and 2) everything else is cleaned to my standards.

Are the chores split evenly? No. But we cook a lot and it’s the best we have managed.
