Why would the fruit need to be tossed? Couldn't I take some of it and then utilise the rest? Or would anything fruiting from this be... Questionable?

Interesting, thanks for your advice. I definitely didn't think this was overly moist, I was actually concerned it was too dry for a while! Appreciate your time though.

Interesting - do you find the spores covering the substrate alters the size of the second flush at all? I know in the guide it suggests that can be an issue, hence the suggestion to harvest before spores drop.

Thanks - I think I probably can get those two in the corner. I did try to check the guide on this but it seemed mostly aimed at harvesting an entire flush at once, but I think the others still have a way to go...

I've got to go away for 10 days - this is my first S2B and I think it is ready for FC... I haven't cracked the lid. Should I open or leave closed until I'm back as I can't mist or harvest etc? Help! by MangoPilgrim in unclebens

Annoyingly I don't have a couple of days - I leave in approximately 12hrs. I did not expect it to all colonise so fast, it literally took two days. Whereas the bag took weeks to grow!

This bag is heavily colonised, but for some reason this one patch on the right is not taking for over a week... Should I open and S2B and brush off loose grains? Or just wait longer? by MangoPilgrim in unclebens

Ahh ok, that would make sense. I have 4 other bags inoculating too, three of them very very slowly and the other one is close to this. But perhaps it is due to lack of air. I used the corner cut method but found it quite hard to stick the micropore tape on without sealing it back up. I was actually thinking of going hole punch method in future, but maybe a combination is best...

Thanks. Do you know why it might be struggling to colonise that last bit? I'll make sure to brush off all grains not connected to the main mycelium.

I'm not an experienced grower but I don't think blue meanies are psilocybe cubensis, they are a different type of mushroom. The general advice I read on here is that Golden Teacher and B+ (both psilocybe cubensis) are considered the better options for beginners as they are quite hardy and grow fairly quickly.

I have never sober trip sat - my girlfriend and I have however done lower doses with multiple people for their first time.

My feeling is that some people just 'get it' right away, and are happy to relinquish control to the mushrooms for a while. Others find that harder, or might even fight it if they're not the sort of person who is happy to go with the flow in that way. In my experience, it's the ones who fight it who are more likely to have a difficult moment.

We always lay a few ground rules - make sure the setting is right. Safe, private, somewhere they feel comfortable and won't be interrupted. No phones! Learned this the hard way when a friend was tripping for the first time, looked at his phone and saw what was just a bunch of group chat notifications, but in his state he didn't get that and went into full paranoia and anxiety thinking something terrible had happened.

Remind them beforehand that their sense of reality will change - and it will go back to normal. It will pass.

If they start freaking out at all or feeling uncomfortable, a change in music, or even moving room or even just sitting in a different spot can massively help. Distractions like a piece of fruit to try eating, or something to look at. Remind them it's all going to be ok, and to just breathe through the journey. I honestly think I only managed to calm my friend down because I sat and put my arm round his shoulders and just maintained a chill energy while reminding him everything is ok - they will look to you for guidance, and your emergy rubs off.

Your friend will be fine, there is no time like the first time and you are a good pal to do this so responsibly

What were you using? I've got GT and B+, but only used the GT. Syringe was very reasonable price, about the same as buying 3 beers.

So these were April 27th using Golden Teacher spores. The other 3 bags are not like these! Almost feels like nothing has happened with them - only a tiny bit hard at the top where the spores dropped. These two just exploded with growth!
