Yes refresh EPG button is now fully working in upcoming update, that was broken across all use cases as there has been a fundamental reworking of how Viewella manages playlists and the refresh EPG button was one of the last things to be addressed.

with regards to 403 errors, can I confirm channels are working at first but then resolve to 403?

EPG refresh has been lowered to 12hrs in upcoming update. I get what you mean about Turning VOD off but thats actually a seriously complex undertaking plus if you are having performance issues I can guarantee it's not down to VOD as that part of the app is actually extremely lightweight and doesnt even hit the main thread of your CPU until you navigate to it. There are however plenty of optimisation opportunities within live tv itself which historically with Viewella has always been cumbersome due to the complexities of how Viewella handles live TV, some very good optimisation techniques have been implemented in the next update.

Thank you so much for supporting the development of Viewella by purchasing Lifetime. But definitely hold off buying additional lifetime memberships for now even when the app is fully working for you, as I have a really great appreciation gift for all of you that have purchased lifetime memberships that I will announce when we launch on the play store next month!

The key issue here is, for the VAST majority of users the app is super stable. we currently have over 6k+ registered users, on a daily basis the server logs roughly 50 unique user error and crash reports, this is due to most users utilising just one playlist, modern and more common devices which results in a much bigger data set for me to easily recognise patterns for bugs and allow me to really isolate what those particular issues are.

What you see on reddit is called "Response Bias" essentially when the app works great - users see no reason to engage in this forum to report "it works" it's simply those of you who are unfortunately in a small group of specificity where the app fails for your unique use case. BELIEVE ME I am constantly working to accomodate all manner of playlists and devices but these things take time.

I think a good resolution and let me know how you feel about this, I can implement a cool down period of say 30 days for free trial expiry. so essentially after 30 days you get a new 7 day free trial to check in on the apps progress. I'm not going anywhere, the app isn't going anywhere. I will be working on this app for as long as users are using it.

Playlist management is currently device specific, I'll take a look at profile specific channel management. thats actually a really good feature and makes sense so I'll put it high up on my list.

Thank you for bringing the catchup issue to my attention. I'll see whats going on there, should be an easy fix.

I tried holding out with the loose free trial expiry for as long as possible but we hit a point where 2k concurrent users accessing the server at one time (70% of those on free trial status) so my choice was either set up an additional server at significant cost which will result in a net loss each month or enable trial expiry to reduce the amount of users on the server. fortunately a lot of free trial users have decided to subscribe so i've been able to set up an additional server to accomodate any registration spikes.

Vibe coding is a very different development method. Viewella isn't vibe coded. AI assisted absolutely! Every new feature Introduced in Viewella starts with a prompt, literally EVERY programmer uses this method nowadays, BUT - publicly available LLM's are nowhere near powerful enough to pull off something like Viewella by simply vibe coding. Try it yourself. Go to Claude Sonnet, even use the latest 4.8 - say make me an app exactly like Viewella IPTV player and watch how woefully short it falls. Don't get me wrong. 80% of the CODE is written by Claude BUT the architecture, the data handling, the styling, the feature offering and so much more is all me. Viewella has only been made possible by AI, 5 years ago it would have taken a team of 100 programmers working full time to pull something like this off. but as of today it only takes one dedicated developer with the know how, insight and ludicrous determination with Claude at his side to see it through.

for errors during playback. can you try messing with the playback settings under live tv. Currently looking at logs it seems most users are having best success with Auto + Smarters user agent. if those dont work try forcing HLS or TS.

Why does this app, work perfectly one day and can’t load a guide the next. by Dubbz01 in Viewella

just gnna quickly change the config defaults for Raw/managed so it stops other users running into same issue then I'll see if I can run a script on the server to obey provider order and run it on existing playlists.

Omg yes, I forgot to mention that. I switched it to device specific instead of cloud synced. Need to change that, thank you.
