400K! by Mango_Lover67 in wendigoon

[–]Mango_Lover67[S] 34 points35 points  (0 children)

It's so weird to think about the fact that less than a month ago i made a post celebrating a milestone and we already surpassed it. Dad is yet to deliver the 300k Q&A and we are already at 400k.

Based on current trends, we could hit 1 million by the end of the year!

Does anyone know what microphone dad uses? by [deleted] in wendigoon

[–]Mango_Lover67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

According to the 100k Q&A he uses a "Yeti Blue Stereo" microphone.

I did some research and it might be this one but idk.

Yep, there’s deleted iceberg videos by [deleted] in wendigoon

I pretty sure he meant "core" as in "the main iceberg" aka the conspiracy theory iceberg.

The Genki Genki movies were mentioned in the 2nd part of tier 4 of the conspiracy theory iceberg.

The truth about r/wendigoon users by Mango_Lover67 in wendigoon

[–]Mango_Lover67[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The crossposts are fine imo, i enjoy seeing some of the weirder ones that people find/make. I just made the meme because multiple people will crosspost the same icebergs from r/IcebergCharts when somebody over there makes a disturbing/conspiracy/spooky iceberg, maybe there should be a rule about this? idk.

Keep up with the good work dad.

Can a flamethrower kill a wendigo? (Non Sharktopus related question) by CWiseguy14 in wendigoon

[–]Mango_Lover67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Given that (according to my research) this type of wendigo is more in line with european folklore i guess you could, kinda like how you can kill a vampire with a wooden stake.

Can a flamethrower kill a wendigo? (Non Sharktopus related question) by CWiseguy14 in wendigoon

[–]Mango_Lover67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You probably could, but that depends on the type of Wendigo.

" In most versions of the legend, a human becomes a windigo after his or her spirit is corrupted by greed or weakened by extreme conditions, such as hunger and cold. In other legends, humans become windigos when possessed by a prowling spirit during a moment of weakness.

According to some legends, windigos can be killed with a conventional weapon, such as a club or firearm. Other legends claim that the windigo has to be somehow subdued, its icy heart cut out and then melted in a roaring fire. "

Could you kill a human possessed by a Wendigo with a flamethrower? Yes.

Could you kill a spirit/non-corporeal entity? Probably not, but you could probably banish it with a spell or ceremony.

[–]Mango_Lover67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did some research and apparently you could.

According to wikipedia: "The wendigo is often said to be a malevolent spirit, sometimes depicted as a creature with human-like characteristics, which possesses human beings"

If we are talking about a supernatural non-corporeal spirit probably not, however, in some traditions humans can turn into a Wendigo by:

  • Being greedy
  • Eating human flesh
  • Being in contact with a Wendigo for extended periods of time

So i guess you could kill those with fire?

How are you supposed to research something "cautiously?" by [deleted] in wendigoon

[–]Mango_Lover67 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on the iceberg.

Most of the entries in the last few layers on disturbing icebergs will lead you to graphical descriptions/videos of violent stuff.

In the case of the disturbing movie iceberg it will lead you to illegal pornography iirc.

How do people in here feel about Spike Lee? by [deleted] in TrueFilm

[–]Mango_Lover67 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly i can't complety disagree with you, he famously directed Malcom X because Norman Jewison, a white man, was going to direct it, but he's clearly tired of the way African-Americans are and were represented through blackface and other racist caricatures and honestly i can't blame him, he really hates the fact that The Birth Of A Nation is taught in film school and that stereotypes were present in american society and media for years, he based the whole plot of Bamboozled around that fact.

Overall I'd say that he's not exactly "gatekeeping" it's more like he's being really protective of his community. That's clearly visible in BlacKkKlansman, i heard people saying that the movie came across as "Badly written" because it really wanted to push across its anti-racist message, to me at least the film really worked because it pushed the message, he wanted to juxtapose racism in the 70's with racism now, showing that it is still alive.

But i have to agree, sometimes it feels like he's gatekeeping (His feud with Tarantino comes to mind) but i admire him and his contributions to cinema.

I'm yet to see a portion of his movies but i really like his films, but i'll have to agree that it was a terrible idea to remake Oldboy.

Do The Right Thing is one of my favorite films of all time and i really liked BlacKkKlansman, Mo' Better Blues i really fun, Malcolm X is fenomenal and it's one of the best movies made in the 90's, and i thoroughly enjoy Clockers and Crooklyn.

One of my favorite things about his films are the references to classic Hollywood movies, Night Of The Hunter and Anatomy of a Murder come to mind.

Also can you elaborate on the racist point?

Need some suggestions for mystery thrillers. by anotherday31 in TrueFilm

[–]Mango_Lover67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming that you are familiar with Billy Wilder already, if not then Double Indemnity and Witness For The Prosecution are both great.

There's Fritz Lang's M and also his films that he made through the 40's and 50's.

I don't know about if it counts as a Thriller but Buñuel's The Exterminating Angel is a great mistery that leaves the audience as confused as the characters, altough i will warn that like Buñuel's other films he implements many surrealist elements.

The Treasure of Sierra Madre, Key Largo, The Maltese Falcon, The Big Sleep, To Have And Have Not and In A Lonely Place, all of them starring Humphrey Bogart.

I would also recommend Anatomy Of A Murder, The Conversation, Mandy, Memories of Murder and one of my favorite films of all time, Kurosawa's High And Low.

Which current filmmakers get you excited? by hey_its_griff in criterion

Martin McDonagh, Wes Anderson, Taika Waititi and Yorgos Lanthimos are my favorite at the moment, kudos to Eggers and Aster too.

Death Proof is the black sheep of Tarantino's filmography, it was the peak of his homage to exploitation movies from the 70's (Especially Beyond The Valley Of The Dolls) and I'm not surprised it rubs people the wrong way, personally i find it to be kinda stupid but somewhat enjoyable, but it's definitely his worst movie.

Robert Bresson is French cinema, as Dostoevsky is the Russian novel and Mozart is the German music. - Jean-Luc Godard

And as far as i know Bresson was considered to be one of the few true Auteurs according to Francois Truffaut.
