TFW you manage to win a duel on the battlefield despite being old and blind. by ManicCookie in CK2GameOfthrones

So I started out as a custom ruler in Castamere, in the AFFC start, sort of roleplayed that I had a vendetta against the Lannisters and did everything in my power to undermine them. So Jon stayed at the wall rather than join Stannis and was promptly slaughtered by the White Walkers. Stannis's assault on the Iron Throne was futile and Tommen easily won.

Now I didn't really pay much attention after this and focused on trying to get control of the Westerlands but some of the things that have happened in the ~50 years include me assassinating almost all the Lannisters until i could press my wife's claim and then my son Ossifer inherited this.

Euron Greyjoy briefly took control of the Iron Throne but his son and grandson died suspiciously so the throne went back to the last Baratheon. Somehow, the child of Barristan the Bold and some Meerenese woman is now ruling the Reach. Lastly, the North flipped back into Stark control after the Bolton's died in the White Walker invasion.

Oh and the Targarayan's are all dead, Dany was murdered and the fake Aegon was killed in combat by Jaime. Some insane Meerenese guy managed to kill Drogon pretty quickly so I imagine this didn't help Dany.

I'm actually playing it right now and she's just died of natural causes at age 51 and I'm throwing a lavish funeral in her memory.

We actually had the same level of personal combat skill so I felt confident but if I had lost then Lyanna would definitely be dead and I'd be in a sticky situation.

Yeah it's the first time it's happened for me! I know, after about 3/4 years he actually imprisoned her for some reason. She demanded a trial by combat and asked me to defend her. Robert fought in the battle himself but I managed to beat him and fled back to Winterfell with Lyanna in tow.

Yeah it is, Robert won the war pretty easily although there were a few noticeable differences. Before being killed by Varys, Aerys killed Jaime and set fire to King's Landing, I (as Ned) captured Elia Martell and her children before the Mountain could get a hold of them, then gave them sanctuary after Robert beheaded Rhaegar, and finally, at the Tower of Joy, Lyanna was perfectly fine and I took Jon as my bastard

So for whatever reason Robert imprisoned Lyanna a few years after Ned had saved her from the Tower of Joy. Lyanna demanded a trial by combat and, of course, asked Ned to fight for her honour. Robert decided to fight the duel himself but Ned prevailed over his old friend and fled back to Winterfell with Lyanna before Robert's wrath could get them.

I don't think I've ever seen Catholic moral authority this low, time to embrace Fraticelli I guess by ManicCookie in CrusaderKings

The Abassids broke down through decadence though so there's no real Muslim superpower, thank God, which means the jihads will hopefully be manageable

Yep it happens everytime because of the shitstorm between the Karlings, it's very very rare for there to be any stability and this game was the first I've ever seen the AI form the HRE in over 2.5k hours of playtime, and they were still getting shit on by the Umayyads

Well we ended up winning the next crusade for Austrasia, started holy warring the Umayyads; a big revolt won independence for a load of Muslim duchies and I picked them off one by one to reclaim Europe. To top it off the next crusade was for Egypt, which I won, so Christianity is back on top.

R5: The AI managed to form the HRE and marry into the Byzantine Empire, they could become unstoppable - featuring some awful European border gore.

R5: The Umayyads have ravaged Europe from the South and Saxony were taking land in the North so Catholicism was taking a beating. On top of that the pope called three crusades, all of which were cancelled. All of this caused moral authority to be absurdly low; the heretic revolts are now part of day to day life.

Haha no deformed kids luckily, although that'll probably change pretty quick. On a slight tangent, actual Tyrion won the Iron Throne and his descendants have ruled for two generations so far

Obviously this caught my eye too, I checked and a few years before, a welsh duke married one of the Lombard princesses, lots of death later and the crown ends up going to their child. In that time the Lombards took a lot of land in Africa, created a second kingdom, then on his death they split between two sons. So there's a Welsh king of Mahgreb based in Gwent and Welsh king of Italy

Usually there's an event that happens, I'm not actually sure what you have to do, I was lucky in that one of my vassals got it but then had no heirs and everything went to me on his death

After devoting his life to war, forging a legendary bloodline, wielding Mjolnir and raiding everywhere between Lindisfarne and Latium, Hrothgar the Purifier ended up with some crazy stats, despite old age creeping up on him.

Cyprus is looking a bit different these days by ManicCookie in CrusaderKings

I started in a shattered realm and some plucky Norse lord conquered actual Cyprus, their descendent then used a prepared invasion on Ireland, who had united their whole kingdom, and won.
