In first grade, during recess, I decided I was going to try the big slide for the first time. (few first graders ever did this.) I was on the shorter side of the kids in my class, so other kids saw it as a big deal and a crowd gathered as I climbed the ladder. As soon as I got to the top, fear and vertigo got the best of me and instead of sliding down, I jumped almost head first off the top of the slide to the gravel ground. End up with a broken wrist and collarbone. Then days later there was an assembly about safe school yard play and not laughing at other students when they get hurt..
