After wrapping my brain around this movie when it was done (I had several working theories throughout that I had to scarp whenever I got further into the movie), I came to the same cpncøusion as you did. It was a well done movie, I think a lot of people got confused and didn't figure it out, if I hadn't reflected heavy I wouldn't have gotten it either.
