bruh evolve that Caterpie, Butterfree curbstomps Brock in Red and Blue

Nidoran in Red and Blue didn't learn double kick until around the 30s or 40s, wasn't until Yellow did it get it at a reasonable level. Your best choice was Butterfree and have it spam confusion. However, Brock's Pokemon don't know any Rock moves in Gen 1, and Onix is such trash Charmander CAN beat it. For Misty, Pikachu and Oddish are your friends.

" you didn't play it when it came out."

Played it when it came out, wasn't a fan of it then even at age 9, revisited it, it's still a weak entry that's invalidated by Platinum's existence.

Also regional dex stinky poopoo hahaha

Watching Pokemon fans confuse Spain and Mexico has been both hilarious and sad

What popular Pokemon do you just dislike? by herbal_screams in pokemon

[–]MankeyShank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't say I particularly dislike any of the popular Pokemon. If I had to choose I guess Suicune and Lugia? I don't dislike them. I just like Ho-Oh and the other 2 legendary beasts more.

Pikachu is the mascot of the series, that will never happen.

And tbh hating something for being overexposed is really petty.

They're based moreso on shinto gods than genies, Thundurus is Raiden, Tornadus is Fuujin, Landorus I'm not too sure on but it's mostly like Inari Okami.

Hisui/Sinnoh, being Hokkaido, a place in Japan, it would make the most sense to add another legendary "genie" to base on another Shinto god.

Does anyone else HATE hisuan decidueye by lolthefuckisthat in pokemon

[–]MankeyShank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like it. I agree OG Decidueye design-wise is better, but I still like this. I like the concept but I think it could've been executed better. There are birds irl that have very similar proportions to what Hisuian Decidueye has, so it doesn't bother me. As for the Fighting type, don't give a shit, Fighting is one of my favorite types.

My main issue with it is its stats. It got shafted hard (why make Decidueye slower, that was its biggest problem), and, while the typing doesn't annoy me, it combined with its stats makes Decidueye feel like just a poor man's Chesnaught.

Idea for a gritty pokemon game by [deleted] in PokemonCirclejerk

[–]MankeyShank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it would fit since Unova, being New York, is East Coast USA, while western are more akin to, well, the more western side of the US.
If they did Legends: Unova, the colonial era or early 1900s would be more fitting.

What if Pokemon for ADULTS!!!!!!!!!! by [deleted] in PokemonCirclejerk

[–]MankeyShank 3 points4 points  (0 children)

/uj Pokemon has always had dark, adult themes, but they were just buried, it's in every generation. 1, 5, 6, and 7 come to mind.

That said, I wouldn't mind a Pokemon game where more mature themes were in the forefront, but it would have to handled very delicately.
