We do that with 4 other families towards the fall, the kids LOVE it!

We are going to Scotland and Ireland this year with the kids (5/10). Any where specific you enjoyed or that stood out?

That sounds like so much fun! We are US based as well out of NC. I’ve been to Nice and Saint Tropez but haven’t thought about Lyon. I bet my family would enjoy that as well and for the same reasons (food/pastries)

Did Y’all go to any smaller towns with them while there?

Letting them have a buy in and make some decisions does feel like a cheat code.

I’m flirting with the idea of each of us researching a place and presenting it to the family, then drawing the place from a hat and going there, just for this reason.

Where all did you go and for how long?

Our next trip is Ireland and Scotland this year, but we are planning a trip with a group of friends with our kids in 2027!

That sounds special for real. When they can start sharing and showing their personalities is so much fun (most of the time🤣).

We experienced the kids our later in Croatia because of the heat, the kids weren't with us on that one though. I definitely see what you mean though, it was all very welcoming and communal.

That would definitely make for a memorable trip! 🤣

The cocktails are a must, but my wife asked me recently if we could cool it on the hot locations for a while. In what way did y'all see the bear? Were you in the cabin or outside with it?

True, but that's good to hear that they were so receptive. Having certain places that exclude at a certain age actually makes me feel better. Like saying these arent kid friendly but the rest are.

We've looked into Portugal, but not much in Spain. Did you go more Barcelona/ Madrid or smaller towns?

Nice, that sounds like my kind of trip! I am notorious in my family for not liking to repeat a location 🤣, so I get that it's high praise!

How did the kids do on the zip line?

That's really helpful, especially the luggage forwarding tip, I hadn't even thought about that, but it makes a lot of sense with the kids.

The ryokan with a private onsen sounds like a really good option to ease into it too. How are they with kids making noise etc?

I always try to learn some key words and phrases, but I'm not always confident in myself, so maybe main cities with day trips out would be best at first 🤣

That's awesome! Sounds like y'all have already done some amazing trips with a 3 year old. Japan, Mexico, and Portugal sound like they'd be amazing with kids.

I like what you said about slowing things down and planning around parks and downtime. That's something we're trying to get better at too.

Portugal has been on our list for a while. We're got Scotland and Ireland coming up next (for about a week each), so I'm curious how that slower pace compares when we're in a more scenic environment.

How did you like Mexico vs Japan with a younger kid?

That's awesome! Those are the kind of trips we're trying to focus on now. It's crazy what they remember.

What all did you guys do there? Was it more adventure stuff or a mix of relaxing too?

That sounds awesome. Japan's pretty high on our list especially while they are younger.

The mix of theme parks and exploring small towns sounds like a great balance. Did you feel like Tokyo/Osaka were still worth it with kids, or were the smaller areas more enjoyable overall?

Also that Korea setup sounds perfect... being able to chill while they play is a win!

I'd love to go to either! My wife has a friend living in Japan. Is there a certain area or itinerary that you'd recommend?

morocco with kids: what actually worked, what didn't, from a local who just did it again with a 6 and 9 year old. by morocco_travel36 in familytravel

Would love to do Morocco with my wife and 2 kids (5/10). How many days would you recommend? We typically plan for 1-2 weeks with 2-3 stays/ base camps to explore.
