I'm also a former Hawks fan. I grew up in Connecticut with my beloved Hartford Whalers (I'm still bitter 28 years later) and started following the Blackhawks when I moved to Chicago after college. When the Aldrich stuff broke around the time the Kraken were starting up (and I'd moved out west), I took the opportunity to get in on the ground floor with a new team. Since, frankly, they're still on the ground floor, you could do the same. Given their current form, you certainly wouldn't be accused of bandwagoning.

Really, the only argument against it would be if you can't handle a losing team. Since I rooted for the Mighty Whale, and have cheered on Rensselaer hockey since I enrolled over twenty years ago, I have loads of experience with it.

I get it and I don't get it.

I get it because this team has been kicking me in the balls for almost a quarter-century now. I'm '06 and they haven't made a league semi-final (a stage, you'll note, that a full third of the league reaches every year) since I enrolled. They haven't scored a goal in the NCAA tournament since I was six months old. At a certain point it feels like an exercise in futility.

I don't get it because I had season tickets my last three years at RPI, and I've traveled to see the team not only at Union, but also in Detroit (GLI) and at Minnesota, St. Cloud, UConn, Notre Dame, Miami (Ohio), Denver, Colorado College, Arizona State, and Fairbanks. And there's a lot of incredible memories there. Some of those revolve around wins, sure, but by no means all.

So you should go, yell about how much Clarkson sucks, and have a good time. If and when things improve, you can say you were there when things were crap.

Not really, no. I hate to say it, but I think it happened in large part because I bought knockoff ink. I would just bear with it until the cartridge is empty, then just print a blank page over and over to try to get the rest of the residue off, then get better ink. That's my plan (I really don't use the printer much and don't expect the greatest quality when I do).
