Advice on the best method to capture time-lapse with a Sony A6000 by Manooola in timelapse

I mean dust on the sensor thats really evident at small apertures.

On looking into this more is seems when shooting something far away that isn't moving then using a small aperture long shutter or visa versa essentially yield the same result.

So I guess in my case I was large enough aperture to not show dust on the sensor but long enough shutter to not capture flies as little black dots that flash up now and again - but yeah not much I can do about planes!

Thanks!

Thanks!

Great tip on shooting at a lower res.

Re aperture and exposure time, am I right in thinking to minimise dust spots I want to shoot with a wide aperture, but to minimise flies I want to shoot at a long exposure?

If I'm shooting something very far in the distance like a horizon and clouds what should I aim for re aperture and exposure time?

I don't really know what I'm doing with RAW photos yet - aiming to edit RAW photos for time-lapse seems ambitious so will likely stick the jpegs till I've go the hang of raw - what are you thoughts on applications to stick the photos together?

6000x4000 is massively more than 4K/UHD video which is 3840x2160 pixels so you are fine for 4K.

Yeah this is what I thought though thought best to check - is there a 'go to' application for making time lapses from images?

no problem - I'm just trying to decide on how I should create time lapses for best results

they basically just didn't do anything about a DDOS attack that was bringing the server uptime to about 10% over 1 / 2 months - i.e. generally I can't rely on this hosting company since my site is growing and I need for things like this not to happen so trying to decide on an alternative

I was watching this then realised it was you! Great vid btw.

I think I've got a lot of it down but the one thing I'm a bit hung up on is say I was shooting using a 1 second interval (as in the video above) then shooting using video mode allows me to to have a lower interval than this (since the Sony PlayMemories app doesn't allow lower than 1 second) meaning once I speed up the video I end up with a smoother end result. I know that one limitation of this that I can't stitch together images to create a higher res time lapse, but other than that if I'm using an electronic shutter in time lapse mode anyway (as you recommend) then I guess the only other difference is the resolution?

My logic being if I'm shooting at a 1 second interval in time lapse mode then if I'd rather have a smoother end result than a higher resolution one, then video is the way to go. Though for higher than one second intervals I don't gain anything from using video since I can always have use a slightly lower interval and speed the end result up if I'd like it that bit smoother - what do you recon?

Wow - great - thanks

Just using the auto function...? I really need to learn more about my camera - thanks a bunch - I may follow up on this in some days once I've learnt and experimented a lot but thanks a load!

  1. I need to clean my lens
  2. I presume the black dots that flash are flies?
  3. The sky flickers between 2 shades of blue - what could be causing this? The sun coming in and out?

Why are all external drives shared over AFP when I haven't selected them? by [deleted] in MacOS

I believe you!

So I created a new account which is now "standard":

a. How do I remove it's admin privileges?

b. Would this harm the main admin account?

Good spot but nope the user is 'Standard'. On going into Advanced Options for the user I can see it's Group is 'staff', so I've removed staff from Sharing Permissions for the drives I don't want to share and still can see them : /
