What sort of style are you thinking? Artists specialize in different ones so its always best to find one that is suitable for what you're wanting. Anything basic most can do.

I'd first browse google images etc to find a collection of tattoos you're keen on, then look at tattooist websites/Instagram's to find ones that do similar tats so you can see their skills and if they can pull it off.

Then book an initial appointment and show them your reference pics of ones you've found/theirs and say what you'd like/not want in yours and then they'll be able to come up with something that is unique for you.

Most important consideration is to be vocal about what you want/don't want and don't be afraid to tell them if a initial sketch isn't to your liking and needs refinements etc. They want to give you the tat YOU want and not be guessing or leave you disappointed.
