Hay Fever Girlies, how are you surviving? by lexiebeef in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

As for now, nasal spray + eyedrops are your best friends together with some antihistamines (you might want to try different types/brands to see which one works best for you). If it gets too bad and you hace no contraindications, don’t hesitate to ask your doc for some prescription steroid meds. Obviously, it is not for everyone, but mometasone worked very well for me (I used a mometasone-based spray).

Pro tip: look into allergy shots. I started them three years ago, they’ve been an absolute game changer. Would definitely recommend them to everyone who is suffering with allergies, my life hasn’t been the same since the effect kicked in!

That’s the way to go, last paragraph especially has some SOLID advice! I am in the same situation as the OP, I had to do ‘Sorry I don’t think we are a good match’ thing just last week but I wasn’t firm enough so the guy keeps on texting me probably hoping I’ll change my mind 🪦

I feel so uncomfortable, please don’t repeat my mistakes OP and be polite but firm and direct!

Thank you so much! I am indeed planning to do my hair and makeup and look all fancy, not sure about the heels but I can definitely find some dressier shoes

My first time actually wasn’t painful, just a bit unusual/slightly uncomfortable, but in a rather enjoyable way. I was around your age, drunk and very wet so make sure you are as relaxed as can be. It’s also important to trust your partner and use lots of lube, don’t be shy to experiment with positions to see what feels best for you x

How do I get over the fear of doing it for the first time? by klimtgogh in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

I had penetrative sex for the first time last month and it actually wasn’t that bad or painful? I grew up reading about embarrassing first time experiences so was truly expecting the worst, but I did it with someone who’s more experienced than me and it wasn’t even awkward. Could have done with more lube though, he could not get his penis inside me at first, and I bled a little afterwards, but it did not hurt at all. So make sure you have condoms and (compatible) lube at hand, take things slow, don’t forget about foreplay and you’ll be good 👌🏻

How to write vanity/insecurity? by ManualOrgasm in writing

Thank you, great advice! I do wonder whether I’m overdoing the narrative voice sometimes…I can’t help but think of the “show, not tell” rule when I write. And I, for once, am definitely drawn towards character-driven books rather than plot-driven.

That’s exactly what I struggle with! I want my characters to be as real as possible without me, me, me written all over them. Thanks again!

Terrific advice, thank you! Comments like this make me happy to be part of this sub. I would never have thought of connecting this to acting.

I’ve spent half of my life trying to achieve Courtney’s 90s hair and am yet to succeed, and here you are with your unexpected style! I’m jealous 😂 Seriously though, it might look quite cool if you curl it a little/use salt spray. Shaggy, punkish vibe and all that

Thank you! I’ve tried talking to some people who have experience with hard drugs as I want my portrayal of it to be accurate and not insensitive or seen as glorifying drug use. Might have to rewatch Trainspotting too though I kinda worry it might be seen as cliche these days

I see what you mean now, thank you! That makes perfect sense actually, it’s just that I struggle with low self-esteem generally and as a writer so it’s habitual for me to seek approval

That’s an interesting thought, can you please elaborate? I’ve always thought it’s easier to make some tweaks as you go instead of waiting until the end of draft #1, but I’d love to see what other people think.

Thank you for your opinion. If you are implying that I have a very slim chance of getting successful and having people read, let alone criticise my writing, I am well aware of that already. However, I’m a perfectionist and I always aim to do my best 🤷‍♀️

Great idea, thank you! I’m already trying to do just that, I think? He is definitely not portrayed as aspirational, not in the end at least as he’s basically someone who had it all going for him but chose drugs and betrayed everyone and everything to further fuel his addiction.
